I have tried everything to update. Uninstalled, reinstalled, downloaded new version. Cleaned registry of all Nod stuff, checked my environmental variables in system information - Control Panel. Nod still reports an error when trying to update! Ahhhhhhh, HELP ME PLEEEASE!!!

Make sure the system TEMP and TMP variables point to existing directories, or try pointing them to the windows\temp dir.

Try Marcos's suggestion, then - if that doesn't fix it, report the exact error message back to the forum here.

    regards

Many thanks but still having problem, getting bit concerned now. Error is exactly as follows - Error occurred while updating program modules (cannot replace the current file)

Environment variables are ok I think.

    A few questions:

    1. which version of windows are you running?
    2. is this the admin version of NOD32 - ie, the one with the mirror feature?
    3. what version are you currently running:

Open the NOD32 control panel - click "NOD32 System Tools", then "Information" - in the right hand panel, click "Copy to Clipboard" and paste the results back here for us to view.

    thanks

    Greg

There's no other reason for the error than wrong temp variables. Would you please post here a screenshot of the variable settings?

Can you please check that the following folder exists:

    C Drive> Windows> Temp

Can you please check that the following folder exists:

    C Drive> Documents and Settings> (User Name) XXXXXX> Local Settings> Temp

    Cheers :D

Also, open up a Command Prompt and type in the following:

    cd %TEMP%

You should be taken to a different directory, such as...
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp
    C:\DOCUME~1\username\LOCALS~1\Temp
    C:\Windows\Temp

If you get an error message that states, "The system cannot find the path specified", then this is a problem.

    when I attempt:

cd %TEMP% from the command prompt, I get "Invalid directory" as a response.

    However, when I enter:

    %TEMP%

in the address bar of my windows explorer, I get a window open at:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Greg\Local Settings\Temp

So... I'd recommend using the windows explorer to check that %TEMP% is a valid folder...

    ymmv...

On the earlier questions I asked - I realize that a temp error is most likely - however, some time back, this was indicative of a problem updating the admin version of NOD32 - which is something I found when digging in the archives - at least it would be good to know WHAT version we're looking at...

Make sure that the folder temp exist in your windows folder.
Typical windows folders are: C:\Windows for Win 9X/XP/2003 and C:\WINNT for Win NT/2000.

I am running win 2000 pro and it very much looks like it has started to update again! I think the prob was in WINNT I could not see a temp folder so as Marcos suggested I went into environment variables and played around, approx an hour later during another search I found the lost temp folder in winnt, created 28 March 2005 (yesterday)!! Very odd. Many many thanks for your help; ALL of you!
