Alternative to Mailwasher?

Hi All

I've been using the free version of mailwasher, and find to it to be pretty good.

Though I don't like the interface, and the listing of emails on the server is rather cramped and awkward to view when you have many.

Any alternative s/w which does something similar to mailwasher, paid or freeware?

Broadly speaking there are two main types of antispam programs...

_/ 1) Those such as Mailwasher that filter email directly on the server. Afterward, you must then run your email client in order to receive email.
_/ 2) Those such as Spamihilator that serve as a proxy server in order to filter email BETWEEN the server and your email client.

A *Type 1* filter generally downloads only the headers or just the first several lines of each message in order to filter it.

A *Type 2* filter usually downloads the entire message, & then filters it.

If you prefer a Type 1 filter...
It's hard to beat Mailwasher PRO, especially if you have the expertise & patience to work with Regular Expressions. Otherwise, I recommend you try Mailbox Dispatcher. It's 99.99% as powerful as MailWasher, but much easier to use & with a better GUI. You can get it FREE from...

_/ Spamihilator - Not so easy as K9, but this is the filter to use if high-volume spam is a BIG problem for you. For various reasons of my profession, I get hundreds of spams/day. The spammers have invented lots of tricks to defeat filters that solely or mainly depend on Bayesian algorithms. What email client are you using Spamihilator with? I have downloaded just in case I should want to try it at a later time. Right now, the built-in Junk filter for Barca email program is at about 98% but sometimes it gets a little flakey for me.

Spamihilator has been updated recently and offers also all kinds of plugins.
It's really easy to work with when I installed it during a testrun.
I really don't understand why bellgamin is saying the opposite. Must be my habit of quickly getting the hang of it.

Only at 98% Gary, mine is currently at 99,77% and at 99,47% in Poco.

I d/l malibox dispatcher and really like it. Would you know how to increase the font-size in main display of email headers? They display very small (bit like on mailwasher) and again awkward to navigate. I've tried increasing the dpi on my pc, but that just makes everything bigger.

glad to see you here and in the other email forums. I would love to get even better but my word list is at about 50,000 for junk and 11,000 for good. Maybe I should start over with training. Don;t mean to get off topic though. It's just good to know about alternatives.

Like many applications, Mailbox Dispatcher probably takes its fonts from the main settings used throughout Windows. Therefore, it's probably using MS Sans Serif (Western)-size 8.

If you REALLY know what you're doing, you can modify that setting by a right-click on desktop, then click "Properties" then click "Appearance" tab. There are LOTS of tweaks that you can make that way, BUT be warned that.........
