Question Remove True Image totally?

Hello,

does someone know if anywhere in the world wide web is an instruction how to remove True Image totally (files, hidden files, registry entries etc.)?

Thank you very much in advance,

Anselm

I use an unistaller Ashampoo Uninstaller to monitor all installs and it does a good job. You could use System Restore to go back before Acronis was installed or you could try using the Acronis uninstaller and then go to Regedit and do a search for all references to Acronis and delete them (there should not be too many to delete manually).

Unhappy Re: Remove True Image totally?

Hi,

an uninstaller is a good idea if it's installed before installation of the software to be uninstalled. I'll try System Restore but I'm afraid to have installed some other software in the meantime. Using the True Image uninstaller and deleting True Image registry entries I already tried. Unfortunately I uninstalled True Image 8.0, installed True Image SE (free) which also didn't work, uninstalled that and tried to install True Image 8.0 again. Now the installer refuses a new installation. Some software producers provide a description of all the steps their installers make or provide instructions how to remove the software really completely and I hoped to get one.

Thank you anyway,

Anselm

you may install TI over your installation, monitoring it with some uninstaller like Ashampoo or InCtrl5, so that you can see what it adds to the disk and the registry..then you'll be able to completely uninstall it also manually

Unhappy Re: Remove True Image totally?

Hi,

your advice sounds good. But if I try to install True Image again, after a short time the message appears: "Unfortunately the program cannot continue because an error occured. Please attempt to run Acronis True Image again later."

Perhaps if I look after this PC next time, it is "later" and I can install True Image successfully.

I learned that installing without of an uninstaller is the best way to get madly.

Thanks!

Hello Anselm,

Thank you for choosing Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing...cts/trueimage/).

We are really sorry for the inconveniences.

Please note that the problem with the installation of Acronis True Image is fixed in the latest 791 build. You don't need to uninstall Acronis True Image manually (and edit the registry as well).

If you still experience any problems with Acronis software please send the description of the problem to support@acronis.com. We will certainly help you.

Thank you.

Ilya,
Its not a real question of "Needing" to uninstall so much as "Wanting" to
uninstall it.

There still needs to be a full uninstaller for Acronis products...........

Hello savagcl,

Please note that you can uninstall in the ordinary way via "Control Panel" -> "Add or Remove Programs".

Thank you.

Ilya,
Thanks for replying.

Will this also remove the "Snapman.sys" that was attached as a driver to my
harddrive without crashing windowsXP?

thanks again,
savagcl

No, the uninstall process does not remove "Snapman.sys" -- you will need to remove that manually. The uninstall process leaves quite a few entries in the registry and to remove those registry entries you need to use a tool like Registry First Aid

So what Ilya said is "kinda" true!
Acronis program will be removed via Add/Remove but a lot of ash and trash is
left behind for the user to cleanup. Assuming the user knows what is left behind.

Not the best possible solution so i repeat myself, Acronis needs a "Full" uninstall
process.

Done,

Acronis Support did say that they would post manual uninstall instructions soon (see post http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=297054). That was quite a few weeks ago (November 11th 2004 in fact!!). I wonder what happened?

Regards

It seems to me very few applications of any appreciable size remove every artifact from your system. Why this is, I don't know and there should be a "Total Remove" option with every application before it is considered a quality Windows app. I am not going to hold my breath waiting though.
