Microsoft 'Titan' Will Zap 10 Top Worms

Whats the point of such tool when McAfee Stinger and avast! Virus Cleaner do the same job better (they clean way more than just 10 worms/viruses)?

 

A critical update huh. Is it going to be ok have this Microsoft removal tool installed on your computer running along side your antivirus software? Are they going to conflict with each other?

Then use avast! Virus Cleaner instead. Good stuff.

Yes.

The difference is that you don't any intervention on the program, just click on scan...

maybe it will go some way in curbing some of this . As
dvk01 says , many pc users just dont take any precautions.

So it ran this morning and then deleted itself?

 

Apparently so... but you can get the "stand alone"version here so you can see what has happened (and it doesn't vanish after you've run it.) Particularly useful if you use Firefox or other alternative browser.

Yep!.....Thanks Oremina, I DL'd that (again) shortly after my last post and saved it for a 'rainy day'. Got a few retiree friends (new to computers!) who will probably require it before the year is out!

This thing apparently phones home; the link should tell you how to disable that feature.

 

Anything that is done to help people "free of charge" to combat viri has to be good. The less activity - the faster the internet will become for everyone.

The Alwil, AVG, HBDEVs & Bitdefenders of this world are to be applauded for that too.
