On Dec 17 2004, 02:35 PM a member over at !2Noon, the forum where I administrate, a user posted some tips for a horse race that day. OK, normally I would have just sent this to the spam bin, however it had what looked like a premium number attached and the member had not posted anything else, other than one occassion where he posted tips for another race. I am intregued to if the tips were correct and unsure to weather or not it is someone trying to attract business for a certain booky or something, if it is then I may be interested in complaining. What would you advise? Jimbob
C'mon Jimbob, its SPAM. SPAM always has messages like diet tips, lottery or betting tips for car racing or horse racing. Since you're the admin at 12noon, just delete any spam messages that you see.
The message has been moved to the spam bin, but I am thinking about complaining to the user. If it turns out he has been employed to do so, then I may complain to the company. Jimbob
If the forum software has a built-in spam filter it would be good. Messages that are identified as spam would be automatically deleted by the forum's spam filter.
I still have some infomation on system. IP address and valid email address, not something like hotmail, gmail, etc either. Jimbob
I don't wish to burst your bubble Jim my friend but it seems to me that this 'Mod' thing you seem so intent on pursueing in these other Forums and here also, if your dearest desire ever came to fruition, would seem to be beyond your limited capabilities, otherwise you would'nt have to keep shooting back here for some kind of confirmation with regard to your decisions on any particular problem that arises......I would have to assume that on these other Forums you frequent, you probably sound quite informative but obviously, at the end of the day, it's all a bit of a fantasy eh?.. Cochise,
As a mod you take a decision and that's it. The other moderators have to accept it or else the admin has to overrule your call. For example: Lately I locked a topic which was going completely the wrong way. I simply reported the fact to the other moderators, but until now I didn't get any response. Not that I expected a response of course, unless I really made a bad call.
I am the admin, I'm interested in if I can find out what company the member is from and complain. Jimbob
Why put your time into this? If you'll do it with everything else posted on the forum, you won't have time to administrate it correctly. Better spend your time on administrating your forum. IMHO
At the time, the thread was removed, the users warning level raised and a warning email was sent. Might be worth arranging a full baning. Jimbob

Nope Jim.....it's just my 'Smiles' have now turned to Laughter....Looooool.....you make my day Mate....... Cochise,
In the upshot JB...this was simply an an inappropriate post by a member. It should have been axed immediately (as it would have here at Wilders!)....No further discussion needed.....no advice from Wilders......no complaints to companies....no IP chasing....It's really no big deal......Zip! Buck.
Agreed. In fact, it is a policy here at Wilders to not interfere with the internal operations of other online forums, or to discuss who is banned, who is trolling, and so forth at other people's forums here at Wilders. Jimbob... Enough! You keep bringing what I consider to be basic level moderator questions here to Wilders, and each time you do, you provide links to your forum. Whether this is on purpose or not, (in order to drive traffic to you), I don't know. But from now on, this will not be allowed! Paul and I have offered to advise you in private regarding your forum's operations, and yet you keep posting here in public about them. If you continue to do so, you will be asked to leave Wilders - period!
