Default SpywareGuard error 429

When I started my PC this evening everything loaded normally including spywareguard. However, after a few minutes I received the following error message: runtime error "429" active X component can't create object.

I uninstalled spywareguard, rebooted and installed it again but received the same error message. I have been using this program for well over a year on my XP system wihout problem until today.

Any clues on how to resolve this?

I read the posted sticky on resolving this error but what I wanted to know is what would suddenly caused this to happen.
