Default XP secret sound?

Okay, just installed XP on new drive, with service pack 2.
I get a weird noise, occasionally, mostly about a minute after
I sign on to the net. It sounds like an arrow hitting an archery target, or someone cracking a whip. "whip-ish". These are the programs I have installed.

XP/Service Pack 2.
MSN messenger
AIM messenger
Giant Antispyware
Bitdefender AntiVirus

Does ANYONE know where this sound comes from? Is it a trojan or something?
This is the first time I have heard it..
