In my short time on the net, I've found it sometimes difficult to navigate for answers.......the "perfect" page if you will. Searching as a novice for information, I found Wilder's and quickly sensed it's warm atmosphere. Some of you may have ended up here the same way, others through online pitfalls. In an effort to assist and address some of your concerns, I've compiled a list of sites that have provided useful service. Some I was directed to, some brought to my attention, and a few I've stumbled on. The deployment of sp2 brought about a slew of issues as to the handling of xp's system by it's new security features, hence many sites addressing sp2, and many of interest on windows. My goal with this post is to share some of the information that has been kindly shared with me, namely "Tassie's Tests/Tutorials/Topics/Tips/Sites" Post. "Special" Thanks Tas, I've learned quite a bit since you dropped this on the forum. Great Stuff! http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=6341 Though some of the links provided are accessible through others, I decided to offer "title direct" pages to make sure you don't miss anything. *Green asterisks precede links not found in Tassie's post. thanks for the links GF heres another link. but, before you do anything... backup the registry To back up the Windows registry, open Regedit and ensure that 'my computer' is highlighted, then go to 'file/export.' You can do this by going to 'Start' then 'run' and then typing 'Regedit.' In the window below, you need to enter a location to save the exported registry (as a single file) and choose the type of file to create. Also note that you can check the 'all' button at the bottom of the screen to backup the entire registry, or selected branches. Beginners Guides: 101 Tips and Tweaks for Windows |
