Bigc, I do not have any experience with Ubuntu but it looks to be based off of Debian Linux so you can probably get just about any program out of the Debian pool through apt-get. There forums are at- http://www.ubuntuforums.org/ and there main site is located at- http://www.ubuntulinux.org/ It looks as though they have a ton of info about it at the main site. For more info on debian- http://www.debian.org/

Thanks for the link; I just ordered me a few as well. When I receive the cd I will install it and get back to you on how it went.

Just big fun this linux. It's Debian of course, but what makes it stand out for me besides the new debian style installer, are gnome (i prefer it to kde) the great synaptic software installer and especially the great software repository. Ubunto offers more than just the stable debian packages, latest versions of firefox, openoffices (even in in my own language) are available.

It looks like the attract lots of professional developers and that there is sufficient financial backup.

I have ordered ubuntu linux cds and they arrived. I tried it with full HD install, one of the worse distros i have tried as GUI, very slow. But it is awesome as a minimalist no-gui install, very fast (faster then anything, i've tried)

GUI - Slow very Slow
No-GUI - Very fast
LiveCD - Extremely slow!!! (I mean it)

I'm using celeron 1.1 ghz with 128mb ram.
