Hey fish--i purchased ewido a little over a month ago.--now where do i fall into this--it would be unfair for me not to get the same being we are the ones that took a chance with a new company to purchase.

Nobody get's a free full version, this has just been an error with the update-server, it treated some of the old demo-versions as full versions :)

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood you... All customers get the same upgrades until 4.0, careless which version (2.0 or 3.0) they bought.

    Hi fish,

Does this mean there are now free "lifetime" updates?

For clarification purposes can you please explain in a little more detail how licensing now works with Ewido.

What are registered users of ewido 2.0 entitled to as far as product and signature updates?

What are new registered users of ewido 3.0 entitled to as far as product and signature updates?

    Thank you very much

    yes, "lifetime" signature-updates! ;)
and program updates (new features) until the next big version is released + the possibility to upgrade to that version at a special price.

existing 2.0 customers are now treated as if they initially bougt the 3.0 version so there is no difference, they get the same as new 3.0 customers!

    To everyone from Firefighter!

Very impressive trojanlike malware detection with Ewido Security Suite 3.0 compared to other av:s (or even AT:s?) but Kaspersky engined ones. The worm detection was also reasonable.

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

    To Infinity from Firefighter!

I'm gonna to believe that in most av-tests where the samples were picked mainly from virii collector sites and some from different forum sites too, Kaspersky has always a bit advantage, because it's the main target to virus writers and that's why the nasties were named after that mostly by Kaspersky too.

So the most infections are actually from KAV's database, not from the other av's. It's almost the same as when Tauscan beated them all, when the other proggies were scanning only against Tauscan's database, you just can't be better than the reference proggie.

As a summary, the main target of Ewido 3.0, backdoors & trojans, detecting rate 95.4 % of 978 samples is actually very good!

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

Firefighter - do you know whether Ewido and KAV are just hitting the same stuff, or are they complementing each other by Ewido getting some of the stuff that KAV might miss?
