I see a wealth of info on here concerning antivirus programs. It's time for me to buy another 1.
I think all of these i have listed are great--they are close to the same price and use low resources.I didnt mention kav for the fact i want low resource usage. F-prot seems to be gaining on the big boys--so i read --Nod 32 is always trying to improve with great forum support. Now Dr.web is maybe my first choice--from what i read it seems to keep up with kaspersky---and thats amazing seeing that it uses much much less resources--but i don't think it is user friendly--just don't know. I would just like to read which program you are using and how you like it--does it run smooth with xp pro with latest patch upgrade? thx guys----i hope asking questions like this has not been beat to death here. |

How often does F-prot update? At the F-prot website, the faq page says it updates once a week, which doesn't sound right.

![]() Ps. if you look at the response time studies conducted by av-test.org you'll see F-Prot is usually always one of the first to release updates on an outbreak. |

Im glad to see people are speaking higly of f-prot---i see that it uses very little resources-i wonder why so many other virus programs have to bog a system down so bad.
I was really thinking DR.WEB was the better of the 3 here i am looking at--but f-prot support is way better. --i noticed when i tryed nod32 it didnt catch any trojans that were in my cach from cruising the net--i had to do a scan to see what i had--kaspersky will catch anything going into your cach from the net. There is something i was wondering --how does f-prot and dr web work in the area--will there realtime scanner detect anything you happen to pick up from the net like kaspersky or do you have to scan later to see if you happen to pick something up |

The real-time scanners of F-prot & DRW are equally as effective as their on-demand scanners. However, if you have a computer with fast cpu & plenty ram, & if you have above-average risk, then you would be well advised to choose Kaspersky. Recent tests show it to be the champion rottweiler -- for the moment.
