I was wondering how to prevent ads from loading within websites (I don't mean 'pop-ups'). I had a firewall program that did it automatically, but I got rid of it because I didn't like the firewall.
Thanx for your time and your advice. It's always greatly appreciated ![]() |

These two programs will stop a lot in the default mode.
It takes time to learn them but they are powerful. http://www.privoxy.org/ http://www.proxomitron.info/files/index.shtml |

If you have the Mozilla Firefox web browser, you can get the free Adblock plugin. It takes a little more configuration with the right filter set, but once done, it does a good job.

Thanx for the suggestions
I am trying ad muncher and it seems to work pretty well. It seems to be having trouble blocking an animated ad on the Yahoo! homepage though; my computer hangs but I can still navigate to other webpages - very strange. |

Here's anoyher option. Have you considered HPguru's HOSTS file? It can be used along with eDexter (to cure the hanging).

I use Proxomitron (my filters) with Mozilla's adblock and I don't see any ads at yahoo.
I tried Admuncher and didn't like it as Proxomirton.
