So far no problems at all, SP2 went on very smoothly. Took about 15min on a P4 2.8 with 512MB RAM, other than it detecting files missing, told it to "retry" and it found and installed the so called missing files, there were about 12 of these.

The Beta is listed in the security centre as Marcos said it would be, see screen shot.

SP2 definitely seems to run faster, nothing scientific on this one, just seems that way...

    Cheers :D

I'm with you on the SP2 observations. Only funny thing I've come across is that PerfectDisk seems to be noting fragmentation and can't take care of it. Granted its unused disk space... so not sure it that is an issue with the app or an idiosyncracy in SP2.

Security Center, MS should have put more devs on something else. Only benefit is has is for the non-security conscious user.

Yes, but it keeps popping up a warning window advising your system may not be secure, click here to enable protection...

    Cheers :D

    Hi Blackspear,

There must a registry tweak to disable that annoying popup.

You can disable those pop up windows in the security center. I'm not in front of my xp machine right now. You can click "options" from either the tool bar or the left pane (and I think it's in a drop down menu on the tool bar). You can then unclick options for showing warnings on firewall, automatic update and anti virus

Go into the security center, click on the Recommendations button and click the checkbox at the bottom. "I have a xxx I will monitor myself".

    Martin -

I forgot to mention that Security Center runs as a service. You can also disable it if you want with services.msc

    Also these can help:

I just took the plunge and installed the full IT version of SP2 to XP and it would appear the IMON blocks accessing the Windows Update site properly-despite having it set to high compatability mode?

If I turn OFF IMON windows update scans and reports if there are any updates as its supposed to...However with IMON on this is what I get

    Any ideas Eset ?

    Hi,

I too cannot access Windows Update since i updated to SP2. This happens with all the versions of NOD32 i have tried. If i un-install NOD, then everything works okay. I get the exact same messasge as the person above

    Very annoying :(

Where will i download this from? At the moment i have had to uninstall NOD32 to get access to the Windows update.

Also i have an althon 64, and the new Data Execution prevention keeps shutting nod down :(

    Does .12 fix that too?

I just bought NOD a week back, im a bit peeved that i submitted two tech support emails, one for win update failing, and one for DEP shutting it down all the time, its been 6 days so far, and not even a polite mail back saying they are known issues and to hang fire

Marcos has advised it will be available here with 24-48hrs

So if you just hang fire for a sec, they'll have you all sorted very soon...

Nod32 is a great product, and this forum is also great for support...

    Hope this helps...

    Cheers :D

Well ironically a guy from Eset gave me a call this morning, sadly it was about 2 hours after i had gotton to sleep after a 17 hour night shift. He gave me a URL to download a New beta version, and he explained all the problems they had had.

The URL i had wrote down is
*** link removed - the final English version will be released shortly, we ask you for patience ***

Sadly this isnt working and i think in my state of half sleep i spelt something wrong. Can anyone correct me?

Just out of curiosity - has someone of you ever seen the Security center without those 3 indicators (Firewall, Automatic updates, Virus protection) ? They do not appear on my Japanese system and I've heard the same happened once with the English version of WinXP/SP2, too.
