Hello, a friend suggested that I post my hijackthis log here for advice as to how to rid my computer of all the spyware on it. I would like to note particular difficulties with items such as MySearch and MyWebSearch...

Can you help me also understand how to identify spyware and take precuations against it...?

Hello,

You can start by going to Add/Remove programs and uninstall MyWay/MyWebSearch. You need to be online when uninstalling.

I see you have KazaaLite, better than Kazaa but still not a good idea. Your choice.

Run Hijackthis again with all browsers closed and check these items and then on Fix:

Now, I need you to download this program:
Please Download LSPFix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and Run the Program. You may or maynot need this program.

I want you to remove
To remove Newdotnet. please go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, look for and remove New.Net. If you can't find it, then please go here and follow the removal instructions in Procedure 4 at the bottom of the page.

Occassionaly your internet connection can become broken by uninstalling NewdotNet. If this happens, then this is where you would open the LSPfix
Disconnect from the Internet and close all Internet Explorer Windows and click on Fix.

Reboot and run HJT again and post a new log here.
