Still not starting in safe mode

Okay, first to snapdragin I'd like to say I'm sorry for starting so many threads, I thought I was supposed to try to put them under whatever category they were about, but now I know better so I won't do it again.

Anyway, I still can't get my computer to start in safe mode. The "Time to display list of operating systems" was already at 30 seconds when I looked at it, so I guess that isn't the problem. I am at a complete loss, I have no idea why I can't get my computer to start in safe mode.

Again, thanks for any help, because without you guys, I would be...screwed.

    Hi sgl,

Download and install APM from: http://www.diamondcs.com.au/index.php?page=apm

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = file://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {6C1CE54A-F9FB-481F-BE3D-C9FD4CF631DC} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\jof.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Kazaa Hack] "C:\Program Files\Kazaa Hack\Kazaa Hack.exe" /tray

    Then start APM.
In the upper window select explorer.exe
In the lower window find and rightclick the BHO from the HijackThis log
    ( C:\WINDOWS\System32\jof.dll )
Select Unload DLL and click OK on the prompts that follow.

Then run Ad-Aware too as described here:
https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=15913 to remove the txt and html protocol association .

Copy the contents of the bold text to Notepad.
    Name the file Appinit.bat
    Save as type *All Files*
    Save on the Desktop.

    Reg save "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" windows1.hiv
    ren windows1.hiv windows.txt

    Double click on Appinit.bat
This will create a file on the desktop named windows.txt
    Post the content please.

    Regards,

    Pieter

I'm having some problems. I downloaded and installed APM, then I ran hijackthis and some of the things you said to fix weren't there anymore, so I checked and fixed what was there, then I ran APM and selected explorer.exe and when I looked at the lower window C:\WINDOWS\System32\jof.dll wasn't there. About this time APM asked me to restart my computer to complete installation. I must have missed it asking me this before. So I did. When my computer started back up the desktop had just finished loading and the screen turned blue and this message was displayed "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer". Then there was a memory dump (which I don't know what is) and it restarted and this message was displayed shortly after the desktop loaded "The file object passed to IOCancelFileOpen is invalid. It should have reference o f. The driver that called IOCancelFileOpen is at fault." This blue screen business never happened before until yesterday, now it happens about 4 out of every 5 times I start my computer. I don't have any idea what could have caused it. Thanks for all your help.

Before we try anything else. Do you have a Restore Point that is older then before it started happening?

    Pieter

No, I don't have one. I had system restore turned off trying to get all the viruses and stuff off. The oldest one is yesterday at 8:40 pm. That's after this started happening. Now what? :(
