When i restart my comp i've tried f8 and for some reason when i look at the bottom of the start up screen the option to boot in different ways isnt their and f8 doesn't work. is there an easier way beside going into dos and doing it?

Just start tapping f8 just as soon as you push the start button. Should work

A good tweak is to install the Recovery Console (http://support.microsoft.com/default...NoWebContent=1). You get to choose between Normal, Recovery Console, and the Safe Mode boot options.
