Why would disabling the Secure Zone also disable the Startup recovery
manager (F11 Key)? If i have a full image on an external device, what data is present in the secure zone, what is it use ![]() Is it possible to have a full image on external HD and have the recovery manager but NOT have the secure zone (and still be able to recover)? How does anyone know how big to make the secure zone? thank you, clif |

Hi, savagcl

Because if you do not have a Secure Zone, you do not need the Acronis Startup recover manager. Quote:
incremental backups. Quote:
The second part But you can recover an Image from your external HDD from Ti in Windows, [But not an Image of your OS, in Windows] You must use your Ti BootDisk to recove an Image your OS. Quote:

Hi TheQuest,
Excuse me but I do increments successfully without using the Secure Zone. As I understand it, the Secure Zone is primarily for creating and restoring images.

Hello --
You can do incremental images without using Acronis Secure Zone for sure. As I explained earlier, the main purpose of Acronis Secure Zone is that it enables an ability to create backups for those users, who don't have any external drive, second internal HDD or CD/DVD-writers. If you have'em there is no need in Acronis Secure Zone. However, if you believe, that using Acronis Secure Zone is more convenient for you - you ca use it even if you have the devices mentioned above. Thank you. -- Best regards, Anton Gromov Acronis, Inc. 395 Oyster Point Blvd. Suite 213 South San Francisco CA 94080 USA http://www.acronis.com/ Acronis... Compute with confidence |

Anton, thanks for the replies. Must say you guys are giving the best
response times i've ever seen. Give yourselves a gold star. Bear with me on this, i;m trying to understand. Condition: Recovery and Secure zone not used, good image on ext HD. If windows won't bootup and i have a bootable CD/Floppies then i just bootup with the CD in and it will find my external drive and restore my system, programs, data, etc without the use of the F11 key..... Condition: Recovery, Secure, good image on ext HD. If windows won't bootup, the F11 key will initiate a restore from ext HD and it will find my external drive and restore my system, programs, data, etc I still don't understand the use/purpose of the secure zone. What does it contain (please don't say an image)? A guess - its a place to put the incremental updates ![]() very confusing, savagcl |

There is no difference between two conditions you mentioned.
Though, you cannot copy the image from the zone etc. You can only write to it, or delete it. While if you create an usual image you can copy it anywhere like a normal file. Again - if you have a 2nd HDD there is no need for you to use Acronis Secure Zone. Thank you. Anton. |
