Never safe...but what should you do then?

Yesterday i had a strange experience( at least for me, not being a computerspecialist).
I scanned one of my pc's for a routine security check- up (because its a family pc ) Everything seemed yet to be ok, because neither TDS-3 , nor Trojan Hunter, nor Ewido found something, and BoClean never reacted, and Wormguard +ProcessGuard was on.

Next,because e-trust was already on this pc, i did an online scan with Norton and Housecall, and i submitted some suspicious zipped files to Kaspersky online. Everything was ok , except that Housecall detected "unix_coco.c" in a temp-file.
I found it strange that e-trust never warned me for that so i scanned my pc with it but it didn't find anything in that particular tempfile BUT it found a kind of trojan (but probably it was kind of virus , i suppose) and deleted it immediately (so, no i haven't it anymore to submit it )

Now here are my questions: is this "normal"?
Why does a realtimescanner not always warns you when you download an infected file? (e-Trust didn't warn me when i downloaded it, but found it when i scanned)
Do you regularly have to use DIFFERENT virusscanners to find all malaware on your pc?

Ps: sorry for my ignorance and my writing. I 'm not a very good writer and certainly not an English writer.

It may depend on what your settings are for the anti virus What version etrust do you have ronny? . Or even possibly a warning may have been given but you were not using the pc at that time and another member may have passed it by , so to speak , and no action at the time taken . Until you preformed the scan .

I also have etrust v7 and I receive an alert pop up to warn me if there was any virus detected. Its more than likely this did happen but you may not have been using the computer at the time (and perhaps another member was ). Your settings would be such that you have it set by default to "cure " . If you wish to change that you can by Right clicking Blue anti virus monitor on task bar > left click "launch e trust anti virus " > left click "scanner" > left click "local scanner options" > click "scan tab" in "Infection treatment " in the File actions box you can change it from Cure to Report . I have mine set on "cure" though . You can do the same for the "real time monitor by right clicking the blue monitor in the task bar > left click "real time options" > scan tab> and in "Infection treatment" in the file actions box change "cure " to "report only" . I have mine set to "cure " . Personally I would leave it on the default settings only enabling the "Hueristics "both in the local scanner ( > Scanner > local scanner options > Scan > detection> advanced options > advanced box > check "hueristics" then ok ...and the real time scanner follow the same >right click blue monitor > Real time options >selection > advanced .
( . Vet is an excellent anti virus . you have excellent trojon protection with all that you have. maybe "spybot search and destroy" and" spyware blaster" if you havent already . You seem pretty well covered and follow good practices so you proberbly need not worry but just do regular checks . The spybot search n destroy has the ability to stop bad downloads so this may help .

Never understood why he (Patrick) gave it free to everyone while he & his team did so much work and could be rich thanks to it , i think.Ok there will be people who give voluntarily something , but i m afraid that they always will be a minority.

Ronny one other thingy . It might pay to check that the real time monitor has not been changed from its default settings and is set to give a pop up if a virus is detected . > right click blue monitor on task bar > real time options > advanced > Make sure that "real time pop up messages is checked .... It should have limit number of pop ups to 3 messages by default .> ok

Since its a UNIX virus, there is no danger to a Windows PC

This leads me to believe it could be a false alarm..
