    Hi,
The law of the business has seen recently one of the most effective HIPS, Sandboxie, acquired by another company, Invincea
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=357312
Sadly, the decline of personal HIPS is a reality since a few years, and sandboxing/virtualisation architecture is very trendy (remember Greenborder acquired by Google, ValidEdge by McAfee, or the French Comon-it virtual browser by Oodrive).
Anyway, this is not the end of this kind of security, as replacemenst or alternatives already exist, like Defense Wall of course.

    Sandboxing/virtualization HIPS
    -BufferZone http://www.trustware.com
    -Eugenuine Secuerity Center http://www.eugenuine.com
    -SurfCanister https://surfcanister.com/surfcanister-new/technology

    Virtual environment
    -Suryl Vision http://www.suryl.com/suryl-vision-product.php
    -Hopedot VOS http://www.hopedot.com/products/vos-security-edition.html
    -Opswat Secure Virtual Desktop http://www.securevirtualdesktop.com
    -icore Virtual Accounts http://icoresoftware.com

    Browser sandboxing/virtualization
    -SecuBrowser http://sandbox.secubrowser.com/sandbox/securewebbrowsing.php
    -Browser in the box http://www.sirrix.com/content/pages/BitBox_en.htm
    -InMunOS http://www.pentest.es/inmunos.php
    -Dell Kace Secure Browser https://www.kace.com/products/freetools/secure-browser/

Application virtualization like Evalaze, Spoon studio or Ceedo are quite far from sandboxie, like Kiosk or reboot and restore solutions.
Sandboxie is gone but Security is always with us, with Deefense Wall or Geswall, or by launching a virtialBoxed Linux OS from an Usb device with Lili, or directly inside Windows...
Beeing dependent of one software in particular is already Insecurity...

    Couple of points.

First Defensewall isn't a good alternative, with no x64.

Second, I think it a bit premature to say Sandboxie is gone. Why not wait until that is true before saying it.

Thank you kareldjag for the list and links.

Like Peter2150 I believe it's premature to consider Sandboxie "gone".
Better to wait and see; a lot is going to happen in the coming months and if Invincea is so stupid as to terminate or implement undesirable changes to the code, then they deserve to reap all of the negative consequences.
As of now, SBIE is the very same application that millions of users have considered as a cornerstone of their computing security solution- nothing has changed in that regard.
It's my sincere hope that remains the case.
Invincea has acquired a great piece of software. Let's see what they do with it.

Wilder's and other forums will be always alert for the negative as well as the positive for SBIE, so I don't worry about being uninformed. As of now, let's wish the new owners the very best and see if they choose to return the favor.

Wow, haven't seen quite a number of those. Just a request, can you list which ones are free?

GesWall has already gone long long time ago. BTW, could AppGuard be an alternative too?

Absolutely, as far as I am concerned. An Outlook add on forced me to run Outlook outside the sandbox. Not worried with Appguard.

As Peter2150 said, yes it could. Since I've been using AppGuard, nothing has ever got past its policy restriction.

As Sandboxie has both virtualization and policy restriction, a similar combination can be had by pairing AppGuard with light virtualization, e.g. Shadow Defender.

  9. I still see Apple selling overpriced stuff since Steve Jobs died, only difference is that they are actually doing something about the working conditions of Taiwanees workers at FoxConn, according to labour inspection reports in 2014 it should be on-par with accepted standards.

So Tzuk leaving Sandboxie does not mean the end of times, also changing to a paid yearly subscription is common in the security business, even MBAM changes to this model.

As for altenratives I tried SurCanister, also subscription based with first free year, see pics (only free lisence does not work :D )

In regards to bufferzone pro, anyone know how to register the damn thing?. It seems the server doesn't want to accept registration and without it ,there's registration popup every time windows starts.

Anyone have a video or screenshots of InmunOS and how it looks? I can not find any clip or screenshot of it. Also it says it is very beta and some modules are not active and it warns against installing older versions.

Its very confusing from their website. So any help appreciate it.

Hmmm...I don't think so :) I'm still using GW on my lap with XP and GW still can be good solution for old weaker machines.

My registration on virtual system went OK and SC gave me all features...unfortunately second time on real system I received alerting pop-up like you. I asked suport about it ...we will see what they will answer.

I meant it's no longer being developed. It's an abandonware.

And the usual question is: have you tried any of them?

    I just don't get it.

True windows brand third party security solutions innovate, release, distribute, then stand the test of their metal and time ie: HIPS/LV etc and just when malicious invader techniques are increasing to new all time levels in sophistication and mass infection, the best of the best (alternative) preventitive programs begin to dimish or in quality classical HIPS case, stop entirely the compatibility at newer releases x64 for example.

All this taking on characteristics of a serious decline in dependable security solution choices instead of expanding within the market, free and commercial.

So...even if "yes" it doesn't mean that is useless and worthless. I think many people still are using GW and it's good and efficient tool for them.
BTW...I think SysWatch Personal should be add to the list on top...it causes sometime problems but can be an alternative to Sbie similar as BZ

    Hi
yes i was quite pessimistic...but i did not say that Sandboxie is dead...just gone...maybe for a new identity...
I guess that Windows Security and co are more talented to talk about the future of acquired softwares and start ups...but as an observer of the Security market, with the decline of desktop HIPS market, only devoted for a niche of expert users, i am convinced that it's already time to try some alternatives to Sandboxie.
Regarding Geswall, it is one of them on XP for instance.
Browser sandbox condoms appears too limited, even if this client application is certainly the most important infection vector.
More complete alternatives are those which create a virtual environment, isolated from the system.
The StarForce HIPS has evolved and include in its recent version a sandbox, but as for Avast, both could not totally be compared to Sandboxie.
Like Cuckoo sandbox, designed for malware analysis, not as a security solution

Jeez, what's with the widespread panic? People bailing out before determining the outcome (albeit unfortunate departure of Tzuk) of the program.
Look'n'stop (undeveloped / abandoned? since 4 yr.s ago) is still widely used and held in high esteem.

  23. Kareldjag aka Michel,

    Why, what's up o_O

Integrity level segregation and CPU based segment virtualisation are the new equivalents of HIPS and sandboxes, while 'old school' HIPS and sandboxes are becoming part of the 'traditional' AV's. The world moves on, innovation is becoming mainstream, so future is bright IMO

Sandboxie like GesWall devlopment will be different, possibly dead, but yesterday is history, today is reality, tomorrow is a question for all of us.

    Regards Kees

I see some people who have voiced concern.
I see nothing that is widespread and nothing that is close to panic.
