BitDefender Free : fewer detections than paid ?

Hi

I have BitDefender Free on my PC (Windows 8 64bits) and when I verify malwares files, BDAV doesn't find anything in 50% of case. But when I search these malwares files on virustotal or with Jotti, BitDefefender knows already these files as malwares !

WHY ? Is there a difference between the free and the paid version ? The free has the cloud, heuristic and AVC as the paid version.

Has the free version a local database as the paid ?

paid and free version have the same engine. OK
The DB for the free version is less than the paid one. OK

But, why a signature which is known by BitDefender (with virustotal or jotti) is NOT known with my BDAV FREE (updated with lhe last version of the database) ? and it's the same problem for many signatures !! Of course, I have a valid internet connection ! this is THE PROBLEM for the free version !

perhaps, if BDAV FREE doesn't find the signature in his local database, it doesn't search in the cloud all the time ? or not in ALL of the cloud ? or the cloud is NOT really the FULL database with all the signatures ?

 

Or my firewall blocks a connection between BDAV FREE and the cloud ?

 

Since it's cloud based, such thing might happen.

the problem between the free version and the paid one seems be solved with the last update. but now, the manual scan seems be very slow (local and cloud ?)
