• Changed/Fixed: Potential errors were being ignored/lost when setting a 'changeable' layer break position to its current/maximum value. The program now reports them.
• Changed/Fixed: Tweaked the 'browse for folder/file' dialog code to hopefully stop the OS from throwing up a 'There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive X:.' error when the MRU location is a drive that no longer has a disc in it.
• Changed/Fixed: Reworked some commands that could optionally not use 'Immediate I/O'. Old code could fall back to 'Non-Immediate I/O' and loose the initial error message from the 'Immediate I/O' version of the command.
• Changed/Fixed: Made an adjustment (potential bug fix) to my drag+drop component's code. It may cut down on crashes / weird things happening as a result of the user having performed a d+d operation.
• Changed/Fixed: 'Shutdown Computer' checkboxes should have read 'Shut Down Computer'.
• Changed/Fixed: Recently added 'MID' info to was missing from the disc info text in Read / Verify modes.
• Fixed: Cosmetic issue displaying numbers when the user's 'thousands separator' is set to nothing.
• Fixed: Displaying wrong firmware subversion on newer LG Blu-ray drives (BH14+).
• Fixed: Memory leak when burning Audio CDs that use DirectShow for decoding.
• Fixed: Memory leak when burning an Audio CDs where the files are already in the correct format for burning (no decode required).
• Fixed: Potential access violation when reading a field in a UDF 'File Set Descriptor'.
• Fixed: Old (orphaned) AWS related registry/ini file entries were being left behind - this was perfectly fine, it's just nice to keep the place tidy!
• Fixed: DLE Window's Disc Toolbar wasn't being resized for higher DPI systems - meaning the buttons weren't fully visible.
• Fixed: When outputting Mode2/Form1/2352 from Build mode, the program didn't take into account any additional data type conversion
required for the drive - this could produce a corrupt disc.

Money? It's usually money involved in one way or the other with things like this

 

you can easily click i dont agree and just not install it. there are actually 2 offers in the new version. one for ie10 and one for a toolbar i can not remember the name of right now. a shame really since i have donated a few times to him they should offer a version of the program without the junk for those that donate imo. i fully understand junk offers in free versions i dont agree with it but i understand it and if one wants a free version they have to accept that there are the offers with it if they are offered imo. just simply click i dont agree and move on

 

I installed the new version twice, first in virtual mode to check and later in normal mode to do a permanent upgrade. In the first case I could opt-out of the two extra "offers" easily. In the second case one of the offered programs was a different toolbar, and I had to wait some time before the option to disable it became usable. Not good.

 

I like to stay with the current version as much as the next guy, but in this case why not just use the older version? I am not fond of Open Candy either. Another option may be to run it in a sandbox.

I installed on 2 PCs today. First one was online and offered the OC junk. Second one was not online and did not offer anything beyond ImgBurn. Not sure if that's the case for anyone else...

 

It is that simple! No problems.

 

use 7-zip (version 9.30) to extract the imgburn installer to a folder, then only keep ImgBurn.exe and delete everything else. ImgBurn.exe is all you need. No need to install, just double click the extracted ImgBurn.exe to run.

 

I just started the install process, but aborted because I was concerned about when the OpenCandy option shows up.

I saw two optional installation pages:

1. Install Amazon Browser Bar (default: checked), Set Amazon as Home Page (default: checked), Install Amazon App (default: unchecked)

2. Install FrostWire (default: checked)

Is there an option for deselecting OpenCandy later?

I did the extraction, backed up the exe's in the ImgBurn Programs Folder, deleted the ImgBurn.exe version 2.5.7.0 from the ImgBurn Programs Folder and then copied over the ImgBurn.exe version 2.5.8.0 to the ImgBurn Programs Folder.

The ImgBurn.exe version 2.5.8.0 seems to work fine by upgrading it this way. However, if I ever want to uninstall ImgBurn do you think that the ImgBurn uninstall.exe version 2.5.7.0 will uninstall whatever later version that I have installed? Should I just make sure that I manually restore the backed up version 2.5.7.0 exe file before running the uninstaller?

 

Do you mean the 3.4 MB setupimgburn_2.5.8.0.exe? I ask as WinRAR and WinZIP will not open it. Does it have to be 7-zip?

 

I am using 7-zip version 9.2.

I made a new Folder with SetupImgBurn_2.5.8.0.exe placed in that folder, then I right clicked on the SetupImgBurn_2.5.8.0.exe and selected 'Extract Here' from the context menu.

 

Strange as winzip and winrar say it is not an archive. I guess I can get 7-zip, but did not think it would do anything the others would not do.

I think uninstall.exe version 2.5.7.0 will be able to uninstall later versions of imgburn.exe, as long as the file names (imgburn.exe) keep the same. You don't have to backup/restore the 2.5.7 version of imgburn.exe.
