    So it's unrelated to UEFI Secure Boot, since I don't see any mention of that?

    Another problem with this report is it does not point out how the badguy or this malicious code is going to bypass all the network and computer security to gain access to the BIOS information in the computer in the first place. This pretty much assumes the computer is in the physical possession of the badguy.

    Now granted, computers (especially notebooks) can grow legs and wander off or be left behind, but physical security is still a critical barrier that needs to be overcome before this thread becomes a real threat.

    Bottom line, the user is, always has been, and always will be the weakest link in security.
