I received a Port Scanning Attack alert when I was downloading files from an external FTP server (passive mode was off).

    I am using ESS 6.0.314.0 on Win7.

The only workaround for this is to temporarily uncheck "TCP Port Scanning attack detection" and "UDP Port Scanning attack detection".

    Is this is false positive?

This will be fixed in the Firewall module 1117. You can enable pre-release updates if you want to receive it among the first.
In the mean time, you can use passive mode for ftp connections or temporarily add the ftp server's IP address to the list of addresses excluded from active protection in the Zone setup.
