I have been away from home for the last few days and this morning I found that I could not update my little green spider or reach the main web-page.

    1. How long have the servers been down? ( I have seen Nick's message over at Updates for yesterday ).

    2. Anyone know why the main site is down?

The servers have been down in the past but not for this long.

I went to that site on 5/29/04 at 8AM Hawaii time. It was out of date. The latest update posted was dated 5/23/04, which I have had for 5 days now.

This is the first MAJOR problem I have encountered with DrWeb, but it is a huge one. It points out the serious flaw that the DrWeb updates have only one download site. For comparison, F-Prot has at least 5 download sites that I know of.

NOT a good sign for DRW. :(

Thanks for trying Pigman, but I tried your link awhile ago without success.

As Bellgamin states the sald site simply gives the virus definitions of 6 days ago.

They must have a major problem if the servers have been down for this long. Are there any other Dr Web users here who can shed some light on this problem?

Hi. I've read the thread but I think I am not updating correctly.

What I did is select Options|Change Settings|Update. Then for the URL I put in http://drweb-online.com/ftp/vdb/, which I read in this thread. I told it to update, and it seemed to be working. But when I looked under the About info, it said it was last updated May 27. And when I compare this to the date on the zip file from here, http://drweb.ru/download/drwtoday.zip, the zip file says May 30. And I don't know how to install one I download.

Can someone please advise me about this.

The Adinf site www.adinf.com which might be connected to Dr Web also seems to have been down for a few days.

They've been down due to massive DOS attack which accrued on May 28th. They are back on line now.

Apparently, according to Technodrome, they have several servers, but these different sites have not yet been implemented in the program updater.

Thanks for the information, Technodrome, I think most of us who use Dr Web assumed something along the lines that you mentioned.

Thanks Tech for the status report.

Thanks Blackcat & others for posting sufficient info so I knew I wasn't the only one with the problem.

4er21 thanks for the link to DRW's /get/ place. It's in Russian but I figured out which file to download.

    grace & peace to all.........bellgamin

Dr.Web's update site appears to be back up now.
I just updated with SpiderGuard and the "about" tab displays "1.06.2004" for last update.
