I used TI6 along with Goback Deluxe and never had any problems. I had upgraded to TI7 with the thought that there would not be any problems with Goback. That was not the case.

Rarely was I able to successfully create an image unless Goback was first disabled. As I recall, the process would just hang my machine shortly after the imaging started. Occasionally, I was successful but it was hit and miss. At the time, the good folks at Acronis confirmed that there were some issues with Goback but not with the creation of images.

I was running TI7 on a WinME system with Goback Deluxe v3.10.56. As of this posting, the Acronis web site FAQ indicates that TI7 is compatible with Goback.

Question: Is Acronis True Image 7.0 compatible with Norton GoBack?
Answer: Acronis True Image 7.0 is compatible with Norton GoBack, but for specific Acronis functions, you will need to disable Norton GoBack:

If you start Acronis True Image 7.0 from the bootable rescue media.
If you want to restore an image archive.
If you want to create, resize or delete the Acronis Secure Zone.
Please note that after restoring an image archive, the history of Norton GoBack stored on the target hard drive is automatically lost.

I would like to note that these same restrictions were also applicable to TI6 with the exception of the Secure Zone which did not exist, and I never had any problems creating images with Goback enabled nor with restoring (per the noted restrictions above).

Since I had little to no success creating images with TI7 unless I disabled Goback Deluxe 3.10.56 first, I would like to know the version of Goback that was used for testing compatibility with TI7. I know my Version 3.10.56 Deluxe didn't do it for me.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for your interest in Acronis
    True Image (http://www.acronis.com/products/trueimage/)!

Acronis True Image compatibility was tested with Goback 4,5 and higher.

Thank you. Where does one find a version 4, 5 or higher? The Symantec site shows version 3 as the current release (3.21.106).

    Hello --

Well, as far as I know, further versions were done by Roxio, at least that's what we tested Acronis True Image with.

    Thank you.

Thanks. Perhaps some more users of Goback can further expand upon this. As far as I know, the last version that Roxio released was 3.21.106 before it was sold to Symantec and I don't recall any new releases since then. Maybe I'll give it another try using Goback 3.21.106.

    Hi, dp

Yes they seem to be trying to get their hands on all the Imaging Progams.

They also have PowerQuest's DriveImage now.

I Hope Acronis do not sell TrueImage to them.

ACRONIS? PLEASE DO NOT SELL ANY OF YOUR PRODUCTS TO SYMANTEC

    Hello --

Hehe :) Thx for your words :)

I believe we are not going to make Symantec's life easier by allowing them to get their hand over our products, so don't worry.

    Thank you.
