When installing ESS v5.2.9.1 on my VM (XP 32-bit), the Real-time file system protection module shows up in the "About" section; however, when I installed ESS on my computer (Windows 7 64-bit), the Real-time file system protection module does not appear in the "About" section. o_O

Does anyone know why this is happening?

    Hello TONPumper

I can confirm your finding, I have not been noticing this before, but the " Real-time file system protection module" is also not visible, in my About Section. Like you, using the same platform Windows 7 64 bit. ( No pre-released modules updates, enabled)

    Regards, Janus

I wonder why it doesn't appear in 64 bit systems.

But you're using version 6. Try installing version 5 and see what happens.

ESET customer care would most certainly be interested in knowing if you are running pre-release modules. This can have a significant impact on the overall performance and stability of your software.

    -ESET NOD32 v5.2.9.1

I don't set up to use pre-release modules. I checked 'About'. Real-time file system protection module is not visible either. Is this bug?

    Hello Janus, TonPumper,

I am also running Windows 7 64 bit. On my installation the realtime protection module is visible in the about screen. I've attached a screenshot to prove it.
But the only difference is that I am using version 5.2.9.12. So try to update your installation to the newest version. It should be located just below the self protection module.

    Regards
    Niels

    Hi Niels
I can't speak on behalf of NetPumper, but if you take a peek on the screenshot I have attached to my post (4), you will see that it is the newest updated version of Eset , version 5.2.9.12. But thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. :)

Cheers, Janus (have to go now, homeworks are waiting )

    Can I presume HIS solution will be made available on THIS Forum or in an Update (Vs) Individual Submissions to Sppt;

My "Available Ver - Check" shows 5.2.9.1 as latest / no .12 -- AND I have no Real-Time Module in About either.

    Hello

If my memory serves me right, then the last cipher in the version number is referring to the language of your download. (please correct me if this is not true

I've never heard that; however, I'm using English on both the VM and my PC, and only one has the module.

    Hello,

What I think it's only a GUI bug in certain language versions of Eset which isn't showing the realtime protection module. I am using the Dutch version.

You can easily check if realtime is active.
Press the windows key and letter r key at the same time. After you have done that type services.msc press enter. You should look if Eset Service is present and running.

    Regards,
    Niels

Hmmm, this is an interesting issue. I am running ESS version 5.2.9.1 on two Windows 7 64-bit machines. The real-time file system protection module is not listed on either machine. The ekrn process is running on both computers.

Addition - The real-time fie system protection shows as being enabled in the setup section of ESS on both of my machines. So, hopefully this is just a gui glitch.

Hopefully, the issue will fix itself in version 6.

It would be most helpful if any ESET Moderator would look at this rather simple issue. All they need to do is ask a developer at ESET if this module exists in this version, and what the current version number is.

    • For those of you that would like and appreciate an expedited responce since you are unsure if your software is fully-functioning, please submit an issue ticket to ESET.
See information previously posted in this thread how to gather the information required to supply to ESET customer care.

    Hello TONPumper,

To be sure that there isn't any version update available, open the ESS GUI, go to update section, click below installed version click on check. See if there isn't any new version available.

What you linked to is related to a certain Windows hotfix that can cause internet connection problems in conjunction with a firewall driver.

    Regards,
    Niels

Tried the following, to see if it would bring back the missing line, in the about section "Real-time file system protection module ". (The platform is still windows 7 64 bit fully updated. Meaning all windows patches installed) Uninstalled Eset, rebooted. Then downloaded Eset Uninstall tool, saved it to desktop, rebooted into safe mode, ran the Uninstall tool. Restarted windows .Installed Eset by using, Eset smart security live installer, downloaded from : http://www.eset.com/download/home/. Went to the " About section to see if the " Real-time file system protection module" line was to be found. But still nothing .

    Regards, Janus
