Actually, once you're a betatest member, they will choose which users will be testing this first beta build (you have to apply for it) selected according to their level of participation in previous beta products.

Then will be publicly available later.

used to love Avira Antivir but im not interested in having my notebook spammed with ads anymore

Avira = Best free scanning engine + is a virus itself with all the ads it pops up

    No so much for me.

Enhanced Child Protection - have no kids, and dont care

Integration of Social Network Security-I don't use social networking

Integration of Android Security-I don't feel the need for AV software on my phone yet

Advanced Protection through Avira Protection Cloud (APC) - Nice improvement, but only available on the Paid version. They should include this on the free software similar to what other vendors do.

Integration of the Experts Market - nothing I would use

LOL Sorry. Hard to tell on these forums sometimes.

I got the email about the beta a few days ago, and was going to test it until I saw the new features. Instead, I will hold off for CIS 6 beta or something else to try.

Good Afternoon ! I agree with you Clocks all of the upgrades are merely playing catch up with their competitors .... and most important will Avira be able to keep the light and nimble factor with the new app...and the most important factor will be Detection and Cleanup...I guess I'm just a Meat and Potatoes guy...or is that Bratwurst and Sauerkraut...Lol ! Sincerely...Securon

Any screenshots or is it too early or is it the same as the 2012 version?

I like the way Avira just keep things simple, some av's (not mentioning any names) have boat loads of shields andstill trail behind Avira.

Wow, so they removed the light-gray tabs to separate sections on the side, and added the new feature options to the GUI, that's about it lol.

Does it still have the annoying popup ads? I think that's why I removed it from my Mom's computer after testing it.

Yes it does, and many of them it's not even funny

all the tricks I tried online of denying avnotify.exe access did not stop the ads

plus, an antivirus including ask.com toolbar in the installation and set to checked by default is a big NO NO in my dictionary

What shame; I'll have to mention that on its description on my site. I don't see why they can't just have an ad for a paid version in the GUI, or a once-a-day little popup.

I am trying out Avira Premium 2012. Got a 30 day trial license and so far, I am impressed. No at all bloated, quick detection, it just works and allows good control over decisions. After a few hours, a little heavy on RAM usage, but not as bad as some, plus actual RAM used by modules is approx. 30MB or so, and the reduction of "free" RAM I notice is due to the typical "cache" it uses which is common with some AV's, but managed pretty well. Overall, so far, a pretty complete package. Using it along with Private Firewall. I adjusted some real time settings, etc., also have real time set to scan 2 levels deep for zip files.

Very good contender and good performance up to this point in my opinion. I tried the free version a few months back...I had no interest in the toolbar scheme, popups were expected, but not as bad as some report. Good point Brandonn in regards to the popup comment.

The Premium is really solid I think, but I agree with some comments about the 2013 beta features...not needed on my end.

A few more days, i might buy it, but not decided yet. 1 yr for 29.99, not the cheapest, but worth the features in my opinion.
