Default gabe newell: "Gonna develop for Linux because Windows 8 is a catastrophe"

Valve’s Gabe Newell on the Future of Games, Wearable Computers, Windows 8 and More

Quote:
“We want to make it as easy as possible for the 2,500 games on Steam to run on Linux as well. It’s a hedging strategy. I think Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space. I think we’ll lose some of the top-tier PC/OEMs, who will exit the market. I think margins will be destroyed for a bunch of people. If that’s true, then it will be good to have alternatives to hedge against that eventuality.

Great! it's finally happening.

With technology evolving so quickly, the restrictiveness and cost of MS..it makes sense..

Think of all the new devices coming out lately, phones for example.. MS can't keep up with support... companies want the freedom to do what they want, how they want and without giving MS a cut..

This story of valve going to linux is certainly interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing how it unfolds
