who cares about average users? Of course average users will do what they have always done, which is use regular AV's, do risky browsing and downloading and infect their PC's. I've seen users get confused over the caps lock button but that doesn't mean we should stop having caps lock buttons just because some morons can't figure it out. Of course CIS is for people that know at least a little about computers and there is nothing wrong with that. Sounds like a great program!

Really, for a user the computer must have only one button "Switch on" (the same button to switch off). Deep knowledge of OS, AV, imaging and all that security stuff must be unnecessary. Ideally a user must know how to use the comp for its main purpose (office work, the Internet browsing, printing, gaming, communication, scientific research, composing music, banking, shopping, booking etc). Unfortunately its more safer now to be some sort of a tech geek - to spend a lot of time on learning all that security stuff in order to securely use the comp for its main purpose, what ever it is.

That's why its ok that users tend to choose security solutions less troubling them.

As for me I want to check if the Virtual Kiosk is really so good. From words of Melih (the Comodo's CEO) it follows that the VK is at least not worse then the Sandboxie.

sandboxie does not provide FULL virtualisation.i use it to virtualise my browser.but time freeze and returnil and programs like that are full.i dont see anything that is innovative or different in comodo except different names and presentation.
it would appear nothing major has been added except cosmetic changes and a BB.
the interface looks rather like kaspersky although the kaspersky is more attractive.
Regards.

Solarlynx.
When you said, "the Virtual Kiosk is going to be a bomb in the AV-industry", I thought by this you were foreseeing widespread mainstream popularity for CIS as a result of the VK feature. Was this interpretation wrong?

Of course sbie provides full virtualization. It acts at app level and the things you mentioned works at system wide level. But sbie offers full nonetheless.

Your interpretation is quite correct. If you referring to my post "Really, for a user the computer must have only...
That's why its ok that users tend to choose security solutions less troubling them.
" then I don't see these two posts contradicting they complement each other.

For those familiar with Comodo all this hype will bring no surprise.
Version 4 was going to offer the perfect match: effective and easy to use.
Version 5 was going to offer the perfect match: effective and easy to use.
Version 6 is going to offer the perfect match: effective and easy to use.

In fact it's all about Version 3 and components thrown in; but they are doing it hastily, as always.

Version 4 was going to offer the perfect match: effective and easy to use. That is what they said and its true
Version 5 was going to offer the perfect match: effective and easy to use. That is not true (they didn't say that), the mechanics behind cis 5 were the same that in cis 4.
Version 6 is going to offer the perfect match: effective and easy to use. CIS 6 will have a real virtualized sandbox so anything could run on it.

All the CIS versions are effective...

CIS 3 is much more complicate to use for an average user than cis 4 or 5.

There is a huge difference btw CIS 3 and 4/5 just check the changelogs, Cloud AV, Sandbox... CIS 5.10 it's almost perfect, no bugs, no delays... CIS 6 is adding a lot more new features than before so it will make the difference, anyway CIS 5 still will remain being extremely good and almost impenetrable

Those of us fans of Comodo that also use Sandboxie are in no hurry to see version 6. That kiosk would have to be something uber special to get me to move away from Sandboxie... otherwise it's just unwanted bloat. I'd rather it just not be there at all and the product lighter. Or for some slim version with just FW/D+ (a wet dream) for people in my boat. And I don't see how the firewall or D+ could really improve much on XP. Probably will just look & function differently, which carries a learning curve along with it.

There's a very good chance that I'll be sticking with version 5.

That's just what I experienced on my comp - it was almost impossible to use comp with CIS 3 - its D+ was constantly asking 'to allow or not'. But gradually CIS evolved to a very user friendly security prog - current version CIS 5.10 can work unnoticeable for weeks.

I love the fact that we have a 7 page thread on something that 'technically' doesn't exist yet!!

NASA have a similar one about 'living on mars'!!

Respectfully cannot agree: the name of the thread is " Comodo 6 screenshots. how's that ?!" and they do exist!
And CIS 6 also exists, though not for public yet.

Hello Everyone,

As some of you probably know, Windows 8 RTM has been released. This means people who have MSDN subscription or device manufacturers are already using Windows 8.

CIS/CAV/CFW 5.10 do not support windows 8. CIS 6, which is scheduled to be released end of OCtober, is going to be supporting Windows 8. However until that time, you may still need COMODO protection in your Windows 8 computers. So for those Windows 8 users, we created CIS 5.12 accessible from http://antivirus.comodo.com/windows-8/

CIS 5.12 fully supports windows 8.

Beta is coming next week guys.(At least to the mods). Public beta maybe next week or the week after. October is projected final release date if we don't see major issues during beta testing(which I don't expect).

And finally seems that Valkyrie will also be added to CIS 6. http://valkyrie.comodo.com/

Ok, agreed however I'm sure that when I read this thread originally the screenshots were on first couple of pages, its now heading for 8.
And 'technically' it doesn't exist yet as no-one outside of Comodo can see it/touch it/smell it/taste it!
Kinda like talking about Windows 9 cos that 'exists' too!

Wow! as for seeing programs - I can understand this but to touch, smell and even taste! "no-one outside of Comodo" cannot do it - that's quite obvious not to disagree but then it means that

inside Comodo they can touch, smell and taste programs

as for me, I have never met such interesting people.

just joking
