NOD32 5.2.9.1 Memory leak and update failure

My computer has been running for a bit over 60 hours and "ekrn.exe *32" is currently using over 1.9GB of RAM. This is both Memory (private working set) and Commit Size in task manager.

This wouldn't really annoy me as much if it weren't for the fact that it also fails updates after the memory usage hits a certain level. The only way to get updates working again is to kill the ekrn.exe process or reboot. I've reinstalled ESET and the issue comes right back. Clearing the update cache makes no difference.

I've been having this issue since 5.2.9.1 was installed. I also run Comodo firewall but uninstalling it for a few days made no difference.

AMD FX 8120 CPU

Hello ajscott , Just a suggestion from a user.
Maybe it is not much help, but take a peek on this Eset article regarding: Troubleshooting for "Virus signature database update failed" message (5.x) .I know that you have tried some of the suggestions, but maybe point 4 and 5 can shed some light on your troubles .

Lucky me that I still haven't seen that problem since I only got 512MB of RAM
Still using between 70-95 MB here. Though I am still on the 5.0.94.0 version.

Based on the few reports that I have seen on the forum, it seems that it only happens on systems that is ON for a longer period than let's say a day. And since I shutdown my PC every night I can't really tell if I am affected or not.

I still uses v5.0.94.0 in my xp sp3 system and encountered no problem and it only eats up about 19MB Ram.

Maybe, you can try other versions and see for yourself which works best.

If it were an issue with the firewall or proxy settings (no proxy) then it wouldn't work for the first two days of uptime. It's also strange because after it hits a certain point the service no longer responds to termination requests meaning I can't even re-install NOD32 without a reboot first.

I have Comodo set to basically ignore/allow anything signed by ESET so there are no conflicts. I have uninstalled Comodo previously to test though and it made no difference.

Side note, installed the version 6 RC last night after the original post and it's up to 582MB RAM usage.
