Default Do you use anything AOL ??

Recent reports are that AOL dialup services are still a profit maker for the one-time online king. But the company offers more than just their dial-up service, such as free offerings of AOL email, music, a homepage & their instant messenger. Do you use any AOL service? If so, please state which and also include if you are using the AOL dialup service.

I use AOL email and it's actually pretty good. I don't use their messenger because I can't get it to install on my Windows 7 desktop. Otherwise I'd probably be using it too. Their homepage is too entertainment oriented for me to take seriously enough to consider using. I'm on cable internet.

Remember that AOL browser? And, a tour of your registry would show AOL files in almost every folder. Ah, a nostalgia trip.

Hell No,The last time I used AOL was the dial up days.Getting rid of the service and software was like a bad divorce, once it was over there was some piece and sanity restored.

I still use AIM for those few friends of mine who prefer it, but nothing else from AOL.

Actually, after clicking "no" I noticed the word "anything", and realized it was a false response. I do indeed use an AIM name to sign onto Pidgin Messenger with. I use it because I've had it forever... since the AOL 4.0 days, and it's the identity everyone knows me by.

I did use AIM mail before, and agree with another poster that it's a decent webmail service actually.

But the last time I used actual AOL was version 5.0

Awesome poll! LOL

I still have a few drink coasters..I mean, AOL CDs around here someplace. I last used AIM maybe 3 years ago? I think, anyway, I haven't done any sort of business with or used anything from AOL in a long time now.

I used it in the late 1990's when it was King. I fondly remember the four hour AOL updates on my dial up modem, where half way through the download I would loose my connection and have to start over.

Never signed up with AOL. I was forced in to it more or less.

I have former Netscape email, messenger accounts that eventually got migrated over to AIM (AOL).

I originally got CompuServe from an in-store offer with my first computer but stayed with it after the AOL buyout because there were no other alternatives where I was at the time. The only good thing about AOL/CS was that almost every small town had a local dial-up number so it didn't rack up long-distance fees.

I think it's good that these 2.8 million have access to the internet even if it's through dial-up technology. Personally I have never used dial-up.

The first Internet access service we were offered by our ISP was 512kb adsl connection. So the speed and uptime was really good around that time......way back in 1998

And NO I don't use any of the services that AOL offer

512KBPS ADSL IN 1998?
How much did you pay for that?

No kidding... you were a PIMP circa 1998 with that!

I remember using some AOL Antispyware app too, now that I see another poster mention Active Shield. It may have even just been called AOL Antispyware, lol, can't remember.

That was back when I only knew about Nortons and McAfee, and used the latter... running on 98SE with like 64 MB of RAM, a 4.3 GB HD and 500 mhz CPU. ahh... those were the days!
