Thanks, malexous...all set here.
Also interesting, under the "what's new section":

Windows: Firefox is now easier to update with one less prompt (User Account Control)

Seems we have a new "Mozilla Maintenance Service" (maintenanceservice.exe). Yay!
Trying to follow in Google Chrome's footsteps with updates, perhaps?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...enance-service

(Edit) Ok, I see siljaline has already made some reference to this above. Still, "interesting" is one way to put it, I suppose.
I also see you can easily uninstall this service via the control panel. For that, I give them a half a thumbs up.

Firefox 12.0 seem to be working fine here.

My AVG Linkscanner's 'Safe Search' Add-on was disabled as usual. It will probably be a week or two before AVG comes out with an update to fix the issue.

the location of the bookmarks has changed.
at least in the portable version.

if you delete "places.sqlite" from the Data/profile folder you lose all your bookmarks.

which it did not do before...

It's been like that for many versions bookmarks.html hasn't been used for the bookmarks for a long time. You must have just changed from 3.6, and missed all the other changes between 3.6 and 12.

one thing i noticed with this new version: the rendering is much 'tighter'.

on version 11, i would often get a basic page with no script for a just fraction of a second, then the page loads and looks normal.

this is fixed in this version.

no, i lately started with version 9 i think.
i always delete the biggest 2 files in the profile folder to reduce the size of the image.
don't know if it is because i use the portable version...

strange.
no biggie anyway.

It has been used way before that, and would have been reconstructed including bookmarks if a backup of the bookmarks existed.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Places.sqlite

Quote:
If you suspect that the file is corrupted, deleting "places.sqlite" will delete your browsing history, and a new, empty file will be created automatically. In Firefox 3 and SeaMonkey 2.1 and above, places.sqlite will be rebuilt using the latest dated JSON file from the bookmarkbackups folder; if no JSON backup exists, bookmarks will be imported from bookmarks.html, if found.
