The Wilders IRC channel idea aside - what "other" security-focused channels can people recommend instead? For discussion, not necessarily end-user help.

I've never used IRC although i've seen one of my geeky friends use it a lot a few years ago.
 I wonder if that thing is as active as a few years ago. (Early 2000's)
