Well, it isn't really an alternative to Facebook, it is more of an alternative to Facebook/Google/yahoo/MSN messenger programs than it is a replacement for Facebook itself or any other social network.

That said, it looks like a pretty cool little program.

Thanks!

Aren't Diaspora and Google+ supposed to be the FB replacements, or at least compeditors?

There are theories that one day the whole Net will just be Facebook. That's just scary.

I made a bad title. This program is not a facebook alternative rather a neat little encrypted messaging service. I was watching RT last night and here is the link to the article:

Probably more more people in dictatorial regimes.

I am very skeptical that the NSA has anything to do with this.

Pidder remains the best Facebook alternative for me: https://www.pidder.com/

-Private social network
-Encrypted communication
-Integrated password manager
-Share data gradually

Diaspora: Yes, from what I hear they are doing things the right way, I would love to learn more about it.
Google+: NO WAY IN HELL. Your data may be more private from the other users but it is ALL plainly visible to the biggest tracker in the world GOOGLE.

The problem with 'alternative' social networks is that they are not very useful or relevant unless they have enough users on them. I am all for a more ethical alternative to FB and from the little reading I have done it sounds like Diaspora may be that alternative. I will be joining soon!!

@box750

I have not heard of pidder yet but it sounds like a good idea from what you posted. I will check out the link, thanks!

EDIT: Here is a link to series of short videos on Pidder
