According to Sibal, during his recent visit to UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation), the tablet was displayed by the president of the general council to the audience. The World Bank also showed it among the board of directors. An American delegation is reportedly visiting India next month to move forward with the partnership in this field.

As Sibal’s Aakash falters, Congress-led states embrace XO

The Congress governments in Rajasthan and Manipur have junked Aakash, the much-hyped tablet PC, for XO laptops, made by US non-profit organisation One Laptop Per Child (OLPC). And it is a far more expensive alternative.

But the OLPC project is real.
