    Hi,

I want to tighten up my security using WSA. So what settings should I use to make WSA as powerful and tight as possible and make security maximum?

I'd really appreciate any help and suggestion.

    Best Regards,
    ams963

    For maximum security:

    * All heuristics on HIGH or MAXIMUM
    * Check the option to have WSA lock the HOST file
    * Make sure all real-time options are checked that have threats automatically dealt with if other people use your computer. There is also one automatic setting under behavior shield.
    * Make sure self-protection on maximum
    * Password protect and/or restrict settings to administrators; don't disable CAPTCHA

    That's about it.

Prevx moderators should consider making this thread a sticky due to its importance.

    Haha...oh wow.

Don't make this one a sticky. I will post one later with annotated screenshots and more specific text.

This was just a quickie one. :)

I don't think it's a good idea because everyone uses different settings and Default is good for most people and you can break compatibility if you use other security software IMO! It's best to read this and set it up the way you want to http://www.webrootanywhere.com/sah_secure_anywhere_help.asp?n=Webroot_Help

I suggest reading through the settings as they are quite clear. Self-protection is set to maximum by default. Heuristics can be raised, just be aware that you are likely to get more alerts and you have to read them :) I think enabling password protection is a good option, but obviously you must document the password so you don't get into trouble down the road.

I understand :D Nothing wrong with asking for recommendations. Just be aware that raising security settings tends to increase the need for user interaction and possible false positives.

ah! thx.....I'm willing to take the hassle of an increased interaction with wsa if it means making my pc a jelly and bouncing of malware big time ......

I agree with Victek123 but if you want more settings here are some more!
    • All heuristics set to Max.
    • Realtime Shield all checked.
    • Behavior Shield the first three checked and the last one checked.
    • Core System Shield all Checked.
    • Web Threat Shield all Checked.
    • Identity Shield all Checked then click close.
    • Then go to the Main GUI and open Identity & Privacy then click on Protected Websites set HTTP to High or MAX I use Max.
    • And you can leave the rest at Default and remember you can possibly have FP's with heuristics set to Max or High.

    HTH,

thx TH.........but don't you think leaving the second option from the last in Identity Shield would tighten up wsa?......

No it will show you a Pop-up then you can decide! I always like to know what's going on!

Like I said it's hard to put up settings as everyone likes to set it up the way they like it and that's my way but you can do what ever you like! ;) Like Joe and I said that default has great protection for most non tech savy users!

but does the pop ups in this particular option of Identity Shield tighten up wsa or rather automatically blocking does a better job?

It's an Option! Like I said I like to know what's going on and I never had a pop-up so I can say yes but you would not be notified that's all!

The most important settings from Default are Heuristics and setting HTTP to High or MAX as default for HTTPS is Max!
