Lightbulb Spotflux - The best of the best FREE VPN (LEGIT)

I have tested a wide number of Free VPN and paid vpn alike.

But this is the best of all

Has no ads
No bandwidth limit

http://spotflux.com

If you want to test it and has no invitation code, just go over to RaptorVPN

http://www.raptorvpn.com

Register your email id and password

Download the client from the Download section

It is a spotflux client lol

The best way is the create your own PPTP conection using the following instructions :

http://www.raptorvpn.com/whmcs/knowl...ayarticle&id=2

Sorry chrismani, but if you post this is the best with nothing to back it up as to why it's the best, then it's just 'Fud'... Words that don't mean anything...

So why is this the best free VPN, give us some details?

Simple :

No bandwidth limit and no ads ever

There aren't any VPN that offers a free version like that

Sorry and I don't mean to be harsh but these hardly qualify a VPN service as best.

Here is what really should be considered as best...

1. A VPN company that is transparent and we know who we are dealing with, where our rights stand, how are privacy is protected and how well they are doing their job and if they really know what they are doing.

Sorry privacy and security needs to stand way above and beyond bandwidth and ads, there are some very serious threats out there that can jeopardize the lifes of people and these things need to be taken into far greater consideration then simpy bandwidth and ads...

The reason you don't want to use a Free VPN is because most of them aren't going to tell you much about who or what they are doing and even if they do tell you something, are you really going to trust it? Afterall, what are the motives here, what are they getting out of this, giving away bandwidth costs, it doesn't come free, so how are they able to give this away and what do they gain in return?

I'm not saying that a free VPN can't be good, it's just that this needs to be seriously investigated into who or what is really sitting behind this and how legitmate this is and how good they are...

Let me guess, the no ads and bandwidth limit is only for closed beta.

How is this different from RaptorVPN?

That is true but I live in a very restrictive country. I would rather have my data in some servers in the US than let my own isp have it

But then, I don't do anything illegal so no worries with my data.

RaptorVPN uses the Spotflux client

Spotflux is only invitation based but if you register via RaptorVPN you automatically get a Spotflux username and password and the Spotflux client.

Looks like they are the same.

No, spotflux is completely free for every user

For a person like me who live in a restrictive country, its a cool thing to be able to visit blocked sites

Sorry I'm not trying to be rude but I will point out a FACT that you, like most people think that just because they don't do anything illegal they have no worries.

Actually you better start worrying because you do have a life I take, and you do have identity, bank accounts, or a job, have relationships, etc... Get the picture?

You're a person with a life and no matter what that is, you need to start learning to value and protect that on the internet, because there are people out there that will do you harm for your ignorance, steal your identity, or use your system to commit crimes with, it happens all the time...

So guess what, using all these so called great free services you know nothing about, you've just opened up your system to let people in and take control and in the hands of the wrong people this could really turn into a nightmare. I don't play around with it and I suggest you don't either, unless you can cough up some serious information and credentials over who this company is...

I installed spotflux vpn in a VM and watched the install. One thing it did was request a list of files from the root directory. I'm not an expert in these matters, but I wonder why that would be necessary? What gives you confidence that this is a legit and safe service?

The windows client is very spare - no options, no ability to select servers. After connecting I was assigned an IP in Delaware, which is as good as anywhere else in the US I guess, but how about a list of servers and countries these folks use?

Well if Spotflux has anything to do with Raptor VPN then their privacy policy is not very good and if you use P2P or filesharing of any kind forget about it. I have dicussed Raptor VPN before here: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=316094

OK, but who pays for the server? And who is managing it for free? This is very simple, if you don't pay for it then someone else does, and if there are no adverts and no bandwidth limit maybe they are testing it or there is something else going on.

It's not cheap to run a VPN for dozens or hundreds of people and deal with complaints and technical problems all for free, things don't work this way.
