Hi mr. Kardo I'm trying this new 2.4.04 you have linked as portable version for the first time

Some bugs I think affected my Win7 64bit Ultimate with Avast antivirus (no other realtime defense)
- i have sometimes the same JITdebug error as reported before from other user Radeon (I didn't print the message because Debug report is in italian language but is the same)
- level is set to high and can't be changed
- update check still continue saying there is a new version but even after some restarts situation is not changed and seems not autoupdate (in this netbook I use a very basic security setup, i use W7 FW set as default so outboud connection are permicted), I think the isse is connected with the JIT error

Now I have some noob questions, sorry but I think this Cristal Security Home Edition is not as your previous KAD or I miss something, i though Cristal Security scanned my system to check my exe files and i have to choose between safe or unsafe (white\blacklist) this as a first step, and after this with his realtime he could detect new exe and advertise via popup.
This was the idea I have reading here, but at the moment Cristal Security seems more a realtime adv in case some unknown exe is loads at startup
Can you please tell me what is Cristal and his features? With all the change between KAD and Cristal Security I think I lost the focus
Thanks

@ Romagnolo1973:

Hello,

Can you specify the error you got please.

One error was related with Deny execution and the other one with
updater.exe

At the moment i am working on version 2.4.0.5 - this version will include
System Checkup feature (New). It will classify system active processes and active executable files. If suspicious or unsafe found then it will appear in System Checkup Classify list.

I just also tried Check updates with 2.4.0.5 version and seems like now is updater okay (at least says: Crystal Security is up-to-date).

Yes, Protection level changing is not functioning at the moment (it is normal with 2.4.0.4 version).

Now answers to your questions:

Yes, Crystal Security is different when comparing with KAD (previous versions). Crystal Security will be more powerful (more features) and also with different GUI. From the feedback for now i see that people like new GUI.

Crystal Security detect and classify automatically common executable files like .exe, .com and also some other types like .pdf, .rar etc.

You can use it as real-time classification system and with next version as on-demand System Checkup. System Checkup classify system within minutes (depending on the network speed because of cloud checkup).

PS. I will recommend to choose Blacklist/Whitelist object depending on the classification result - Safe object to Whitelist / Unsafe object to Blacklist
There is also result like suspicious.

Stay safe! Newer version is soon available with new feature "System Checkup".

Regards,
Kardo

Thanks mr. Kristal for the explanation, I like the new gui and the program too
The issue was concerning the updater and in fact seems I can't update and Crystal sayd there is a new version "New update is available" but is not a great issue, i check here if new version is out; is a beta so is normal have some issue, is not a matter.
Today no more JITDebug error.

As you can see in my pic Crystal Security check the recycle bin if there are some zip or exe on it, and prompt me; could be better exclude Recycle bin from the control?
I don't know exactly how Allow Once works, if just allow this time and next time I use the exe will prompt me again or is a forever set, but IMHO will be nice have a Allow (forever) and an Allow Once (nex time will recive the same prompt popup) too
It's just a suggestion

@ Romagnolo1973:

Hello,

Thank you for the feedback and suggestions!

Okay, Updater is known problem at the moment, i will work on this to
get it work properly.

Yes, it is also known problem that it wil tell there is new version available, but actually not - will be fixed.

I will add to notification list: "Allow" as allow forever (no more prompts for next time) and "Allow once" as prompt for next time.

Recycle bin will be excluded in next version

Thanks again!

Kardo

Further, to my earlier testing of v2.4.0.4 as mentioned by PM with you, just before saving the download using Opera 11.62, I got the following error.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Hi,

New version of Crystal Security | Home Edition is available.

Version: 2.4.0.5

New: 'System Checkup' feature

Added: new settings (choose between low/high level / checkup report)

Fixed: updater and other reported bugs.

System Checkup feature overview:

This new feature will classify your system (critical areas, active programs) within minutes (depending on the network speed).
During the system classification, Crystal Security report unsafe, suspicious and unknown objects.

You can configure from settings what found objects to report (unknown/suspicious).

You can find System Checkup under: 'Manage'

Download: -http://content.wuala.com/contents/crystalsecurity/Public/Crystal%20Security%202.4.0.5/Crystal%20Security%20BETA.zip

Any feedback welcome!

PS! 'Allow always' functionality for object will be added to newer version.

Regards,
Kardo

Per abilitare il debug JIT, è necessario impostare il valore
jitDebugging nella sezione system.windows.forms del file di configurazione

L'applicazione inoltre deve essere compilata con il debug
abilitato.

Ad esempio:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

Quando il debug JIT è abilitato, tutte le eccezioni non gestite
vengono inviate al debugger JIT registrato nel computer,
anziché essere gestite da questa finestra di dialogo.

Hi,

@ Romagnolo1973:

Thank you for the reports!

I´ll try to figure out solution for first error.

Second error is related with unauthorized access. Program should get
current user Temp folder. When Crystal Security check for update then it should download version.txt file to Temp folder. It seems it tries to download it to your system folder. It is protected with admin rights - that is causing the error for you. I will change version download path to: "C:\" - it should be fine then without any errors. Will be fixed.

New version (critical fix) will be available within 10 hours.

Regards,
Kardo

Hi,

@ Romagnolo1973:

Thank you for the report.

I will try to figure out the issue.

On what operating system (32-bit or 64-bit) you tried Checkup?

Is Updater problem solved for now with last update (2.4.0.6)?

Kardo

Hi,

@ Romagnolo1973:

Thanks for the feedback!

I think i just figured out the problem.

It will take some time to fix this.

At the moment i can say that 'Checkup' is working correctly on Windows 32-bit systems but not on 64-bit systems.

I will make 'Checkup' work on 64-bit system.

Regards,
Kardo

The 'Always allow' option, available since version 2.4.0.5, does not work.

Also, check updates works from the GUI, but does not work from the right click tray icon.

Hi,

@ Tarnak:

Thank you for the feedback!

'Always allow' problem is normal at the moment. This feature is not
fully implemented yet - will be available with newer version.

Right-click update check from tray icon menu will be fixed.

Good to hear that 'Update check' is working correctly from GUI.

Kardo
