  4. Suggestion to Kardo, create a whitelist (permanent cache) of 100% SAFE PROGRAMS

There should be a way to build, backup and maintain a local whitelist DB. And also an option to clean the whitelist if the items doesn't exist anymore.

I hope we can have option on the tray icon for silent mode so we dont have to dig in when we install something.
    Thanks!

    Hi,

Can you please specify your .NET framework version?

Please note that .NET Framework 4 or higher is required to run Crystal Security.

    Regards,
    Kardo

    1. Is this program for prevention, removal, or both?

    2. Why can't it be installed like a normal program if you want to have it on your computer permanently?

    3. Why does it still result in Virustotal detections? Today's version was detected by 3 engines, and Chrome wanted to stop me from downloading it.

  14. @Brandonn2010

    1. I use it for detection (since it checks exe's allready on your HD)
    2. A lot of free programs are not digitally signed, so for me it is a benefit to just unzip the "portable" program version (my UAC setting only allows signed programs to elevate), there was an installer in the past, might be back when program final version is released (this is beta)
    3. Not enough users complaining about FP, so service desk of AV adds a hash to whitelist (quick fix), not for the vendor Kardo Krystal (program is not signed), so every next version will have different hash and will be flagged again.

  15. Future request
I have disabled notifications for safe programs. Only for 'threat gate' programs like my browser, I would like to know whether the hash is changed. So maybe in the future you could add a fourth category of vulnarable programs. For programs in this category the user could enable the option to get a warning when the hash is changed AND safe. So in my case when Chromium is updated (and hash is changed) I would still get a warning (hash is changed, program is still safe). This is not a high priority request, but one when you ask yourself "what should I add in version 5?" :D

    Urgent request
A text file for the white/blacklist in user directories are to easy to manipulate. Apply some form of obfuscation (e.g. encrypted binary format)

    Program Failure

Noticed program failures of Crystal Security, have not noticed them myself, can only remember that a "Lookup subselection Valkyre and Nicta Tech did not seem to work. This problably are those failures noticed by reliability monitor

    Hi,

Thank you for your suggestions! :thumb:

Good idea ;), will be added in future.

Encryption for Whitelist/Blacklist, Activity Monitor and other program related files will be added into next version.

    Thanks! I´ll look into it.

    Regards,
    Kardo

  18. Kardo,

When an unknown program is found (unknown in VT), CS keeps popping up after whitelisting them. Manually uploading this binary to VT and whitelisting this binary afterwards seems to work (stops CS from popping up on the same binary).

Also could you explain difference between Normal and Advanced mode?

    Small text error (see pic)

    Thanks

    Hello.

Will be fixed! Thanks for your report. :thumb:

Sure. Advanced mode reports suspicious files (recently created unknown files, suspicious start-up entries...).

Also more false positive detections by Advanced mode.

Thanks for typo report. Will be fixed.

Next version is expected soon. ;)

    Regards,
    Kardo

    Hi,

    Answer: Final

  22. Kardo,

I don't know how you positioned or envsioned Crystal Security to be. Knowing now what advanced mode does and having discovered the on access option (to add directories), I would like to suggest an new mode: intrusion alert mode

Intrusion Alert mode = same as advanced mode, looks at autoruns/system loadpoints, plus all binaries in the download folder and the ones started from USB. This high alert mode, does not look at regular binaries in program files/windows instead it only looks at new arrivals (newly created within a day/week, the current default for new programs).

I'm trying the latest release (3.0.0.67) but I'm getting a bunch of C:/Windows/System32/taskhost.exe crashes (plus a NetFramework crash once) which in-turn crashes Crystal Security.exe. This is on Win 8 Pro 64 bit. The only security I'm running is EMET 4.0 (everything set to Always On), ERP 2.7.7, Sandboxie 4.05.06 (64 bit), Windows Defender, and Windows Firewall (with rules).

I tried version 3.0.0.66 which also crashed on me (can't remember the error message) but not nearly as much as 3.0.0.67.

Also, a question. Where is the suggested location to place the Crystal Security.exe folder? I've tried it in Program Files, Program Files (x86), and Documents. I was thinking another location would prevent the crashes.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Bob
