I'm not thinking of getting one, just curious about VPS on -http://www.elite-proxy-server.com

LOTS of repetition about the same things including, Torrents/Multiple Facebook etc Accounts & much more.

It "could" lead people to believe that they could do "almost" anything they liked, & NObody would ever discover what they had been doing, & that's Without a HTTPS VPS connection.

Is this a Private Proxy Server?

Yes, of course it is, anything else would be practically useless; slow as hell & choppy. You're setting up the proxy server yourself, so as long as you don't tell anyone else about your proxy server (or more specifically; as long as you don't give anyone your proxy server's ip address, username, and password) no one else can use it, no one else even knows it exists;

So they know who you are, & your real IP etc Also i saw NO mention of the possibility of logging etc etc by those RSHC's. I wouldn't be surprised if they could/do. Is this a reality, or are such VPS's 100% Undetectable & Highly Anonymous, as claimed ?

And the website! You don't see that much hand waving very often.

In my experience, setting up a VPS is too much work for just a proxy. Although you could turn off logging in the VPS, the hosting provider knows your IP, and can log however it wants on both sides of the VPS.

It's a con.

For people that are considering running their own server, then just setup OpenVPN, it will be a lot safer in the long run...

In theory, this is a good idea for providing an additional layer of anonymity... but only if you know how to set it up correctly (and anonymously, of course). The basic procedure would be:

1. Sign up for the VPS account anonymously (via TOR, VPN, public wireless, or some combination thereof).
2. Use an anonymous payment method to pay the hosting provider.
3. Make sure the host allows full root access; that way you can go into the Apache server config file and TURN OFF server logging completely.
4. Install Squid Proxy Server (or similar proxy software) onto the host, making sure to turn off all software-based logging as well.

Now, even if you have successfully turned off all of the logging on your end, you still have to face the possibility that the upstream provider/datacenter is doing some rudimentary logging also... and the fact that the hosting company admin can easily "snoop" in your account at any time they see fit (especially if provoked by a Spam/DMCA/legal complaint). That's why you should NEVER authenticate yourself directly to the remote proxy, else run the risk of exposing your real IP to a potential adversary.

To avoid this problem, you would need to use an intermediary anonymity service between you and the proxy at all times. An example of a properly-implemented multi-hop anonymity chain would look something like this:

You --> VPN (network-layer proxy) --> HTTP Proxy (application-layer proxy) --> Remote Site

Right. Friends and I have been playing with such setups.

We're running OpenVPN server on the VPS, which provides a private VPN (not mainly as a proxy, but rather like a LAN). We only connect through VPN services, so the OpenVPN server on the VPS doesn't see our true IPs. And all of our traffic through the private VPN is encrypted. Tahoe-LAFS runs quite well in that environment. If we wished, we could peer that private VPN to others (as in anonet2).

The complete absense of ANY mention of "someone" being able to snoop/log, was main concern amongst ALL the other info he states

The $14.99 also includes his Script which "supposedly" makes the whole process a Lot easier & quicker.

Use proxies only when it's necessary. Working via proxy servers slows down data transfer rate and is an additional load on the network and the servers. Another important thing that is often forgotten by many people: use proxies for legal purposes. Hiding you identity is ok (at least in the free world) as long as you want to visit a site that offers, say, pornography. But if you use a proxy server for purchasing CDs or software with a bogus credit card number there is a good chance that you'll end up in prison, let alone the moral aspects. Remember, all the connections are logged, and if you violate the law you can be tracked down. The site administrator can check the logs and contact the proxy's administrator, he can in turn check his own logs and find your real IP Address, then they both will contact your ISP, and your ISP keeps logs too ... Anyway, I hope you got it.
