for what its worth, i have tried them all and dr.web's is the best for me, followed by avira's and bitdefender's boot disks

kaspersky does a good job but it takes waaaay too long to scan in comparison to others.

bitdefender and f-secure have the ability to easily update the definitions on the boot disk even if you dont have internet access (comes in use for client machines and you dont need to burn a new disk or write to a USB every so often)

avira and dr.web have the latest definitions as of when the iso is downloaded

use yumi or sardu combine multiple boot disks into one USB disk

Yeah, I've noticed that Kaspersky takes a lifetime to finish it's scan and that's even after excluding several scan options.

I haven't put Dr. Web through the ringer yet, that's next on my list of things to do. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Web can auto-update from the pre-environment if your ISO is very old?

I've used the Norton Bootable Recovery Disk (NBRD) and it works quite well. The latest version includes Norton Power Eraser which scans very fast - good for a quick evaluation and cleanup. The general scan takes a fairly long time, but I don't know how it compares with Kaspersky, etc. It does update definitions at the beginning so no need to download and burn a new disc each time. The NBRD is not freeware and you need to enter a license (NIS, NAV, or N360 I believe) to use it. I don't know if it needs to be active though.

Dr Web, Kaspersky, AVG, VBA are the main rescueCDs that I normally use. Kaspersky as everyone says takes time, well it depends on hardware config and how bad the system is infested. I too had a bad exp with kaspersky when I used in clients system couple of months back. DrWeb and kaspersky are best two when removal is concerned. Tried Avira but wasn't happy from it

The changelog for the latest version of Sardu states: "Added Uninstaller (except for Windows Section)". Does this mean that if you wish to uninstall Sardu, the Sardu installed files in the Windows Section are left behind? Is there a portable version of Sardu that does not install?

You can remove the software builded in the USB with SARDU
