hello hello,
I have had Webroot Spysweeper on this machine for a long time now and always liked it. Last updated it updated itself to its new program called Webroot SecureAnywhere. I use Avast as my AV and used to just start Webroot Spysweeper whenever I wanted. Now with the new SecureAnywhere it starts itself with windows, and I would like to stop that. I would like to start it when I want. I have disabled WRSA.exe in Msconfig but it just keeps re-enabling itself. Anyone know a way of stopping this program from starting with windows? PS- this is on a XP Pro partition Last edited by bobbagels : December 14th, 2011 at 10:16 PM. |

Hello and welcome!
You can run WSA and Avast together without issues as WSA is a Full Anti-Malware and can run with other AV's and WSA has very little impact on system resources unlike SpySweeper! You can read more about WSA here: http://www5.nohold.net/Webroot/Login...solutionid=861 and here: http://www.webroot.com/En_US/land-se...hate.html#home also I seen your post on DSL Reports! HTH, TH

Heh, Yea thats me over there.
Ok, thank you for the response. I will read through those links you posted. reason why I am asking this is because WSA seems to be making the shut down process of windows itself hang. |

I found on install the first 2 or 3 reboots slow as WSA is checking for malware at shut down but that will cease after that as the files checked get cached! TH

As TH has mentioned, if you're seeing this past the first couple reboots, could you write into our support inbox so that they can help take a look at what's going wrong? WSA shouldn't slow down your shutdown process at all even with Avast installed as well. I'm sure we'll be able to get this resolved quickly. Thanks for the help! |

Yes if you want the layered approach just make sure the other AV doesn't block WSA as WSA needs full rights to the system! ![]() TH

WSA always steps aside to the other AV for compatibility reasons but if the other AV doesn't pick it up WSA will! But remember no AV will catch malware 100% so if it does get by WSA: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showp...3&postcount=14 TH
