Adding option to block non-vpn traffic?

Would it be possible to add an option to block non-vpn traffic? If not generally then for certain applications? So if your vpn goes down silently, which for openvpn seems to happen everytime the computer sleeps in Windows 7, then you will not unknowingly start transmitting non-vpn traffic.
