I was told that I could post my HijackThis log here, and some pro's would review it.

I've run Ad-Aware and removed all the spyware it picked up, then ran HijackThis. I'm not really expriencing any real problems with my system, but I've noticed I have a file called SM1bg.exe on my pc, and decided to get it check out first before doing anything. So, below is the HijackThis logfile.

    Hi!

Please do all the steps in the order they are listed
    • Open 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel. Select the 'My Search Bar' (MySearch variant), 'MyWay Speed Bar' (MyWay) or 'My Web Search Bar' (MyWeb) entry and click 'Remove'. For the MyWeb variant, be sure to also remove 'Fun Web Products Easy Installer'.
Also remove any Gator.com applications - Date Manager, Precision Time or Gator eWallet if listed
And finaly remove webHancer and B3d Projector if listed
Reboot if prompted to do so otherwise proceed with the next step

    • Have Hijack This fix all of the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and hitting fix checked. Make sure all browsers and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

      O2 - BHO: MyWay Search Assistant BHO - {04079851-5845-4dea-848C-3ECD647AA554} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\SrchAstt\1.bin\MYSRCHAS.DLL (file missing)
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CMESys] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\CMEII\CMESys.exe"
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [webHancer Survey Companion] "C:\Program Files\webHancer\Programs\whSurvey.exe"
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [b3dUpdate] C:\WINDOWS\BDE\Update\Zupdate.EXE -silent -p "C:\WINDOWS\BDE\Update" -s setup.cab

    • Click here, for instructions on how to enable hidden files and folders to be visible. After enabling, reboot into safe mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded

    • Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
      C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
      C:\Temp\
      C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select delete all offline content.

    • Find and delete the following:

      Files
      BDEsecureinstall.exe <--- Search for it

      Folders
      C:\WINDOWS\BDE
      C:\Program Files\webHancer
      C:\Program Files\Common Files\CMEII
      C:\Program Files\MyWay

    • Reboot back into normal mode

    • After that could you check the properties for these files? Also if you know what application the belong to please reply with that info to.

      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hplampc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hplampc.exe

Look in the version tab and write down the description and see if there is any info about company and so on and post back the info here.

    • Rescan with HJT and post a new log here. Also please describe how your computer behaves.

Ok, so I followed the steps I was told, and here's my new HijackThis log.

Hey, I followed the steps Lappen told me to take ( https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=31303 ). Here's the new HijackThis log. Oh, and hplampc.exe is a Hewlett Packard application (for my scanner). The PC feels fine, though it did before as well.

One more thing, I still have SM1bg.exe on my computer, is it safe to delete it with HijackThis? If it isn't could you please tell me the steps I should take to safely get it off my PC?

C:\WINDOWS\SM1BG.EXE is usually a driver for a memory card reader or exterrnal usb device like an external hard disc or such so it should be left alone if you have any such devices as it will be needed

I have seen it installed with a variety of MP3 players as well
