Reinstalled RIS late last night, updated perfectly. Keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to do so. I'm guessing I just had a buggy install last go-round, though I thought it went fine.

This program has become possibly my favorite freebie at the moment. Tests really well for me, is light weight, and has a solid GUI.

Clocks,

Yes, agree... light, easy to setup, hasn't conflicted with Malwarebytespro. Updates work fine, except it always says one day back, but as I am in NYC, that day off is probably meaningless. Nice so far.

It's on every PC I get my hands on. Really like it!

I like it as well.

RIS + BD Trafficlight = Custom BD suite.

Great BD Trafficlight doesn't support Opera. Not right BD!

Nice thinking! And without the annoying auto-delete of BD.

A little off topic, but I've tested both the BD 2013 beta and Trafficlight separately, and Trafficlight doesn't seem to block nearly as much as the webguard in BD. Are they not the same?

I believe they share the same URL database but the detection by the realtime results could be different.

It is supported, you have to download the full installer.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Though in Norton DNS for extra, resource free protection, and you have a great layered free setup.

@cloud : could you tell me your personal opinion on how "light" roboscan, compared to cloud anti virus?

Panda Cloud is indeed lighter but you know, Roboscan is a suite. However, it is both light and powerful.

Idk? If it works... then it works. Product is working fine in most of the youtube tests and I do not see any thing wrong with the realtime modules. Perhaps they are simply expecting too much from BitDefender. BD could have tweaked the engine in their product line so it does not help the situation much.

Look at the system requirements and trial the product for yourself. That is all I can say.

It's close. Roboscan rates up there with the best of the freebies I have tested. But I find Norton and BD are probably the tops in terms of protection. Roboscan is VERY close though in all the tests I have done. I also appreciate that RIS will ask you what to do with the virus, and will not automatically delete it like many others do, which can be an issue with false positives.

As others have suggested, run RIS with Trafficlight and/or Norton DSN. Great combo.

I'm not on the PC where I have it installed, but if I recall it was around 400-500meg on the hard drive. It updates a few times per day, like most other freebies. Maybe 3-6x per day?

It shows 498mb on my hard drive, and with auto-update selected, it checks roughly every 2 hours. It can be set to check periodically as well, with 1-2-3-5-6-12 & 24 hour selections available. There were 5 updates on this pc for the 8 or so hours it was running last night/this morning.

About 392meg in program files, and another 96meg in program data. Not sure if the 92 meg was just for installation?

BTW - I no longer suggest using BD Trafficlight with RIS. First of all, it really isn't needed. RIS is good enough on it's own. Secondly, I find Trafficlight raises my pings from 18-20 to about 550ms.

395 & 103 on my pc. I would guess the Program Data files are most likely install or set-up related.

See this thread about TrafficLight, a bit surprising.

I installed this today (without the firewall) and its running great along side of Private Firewall. My system is more robust than with avast or Panda. Scans are also really fast and detection rates really good.
