Default How can I configure TOR for computer updates?

I would like to get computer system updates through TOR instead of it's current unencrypted path.
Is there a benefit for getting updates this way?
What is the downside of using this method?

I just thought that updating your system on a hostile network would not be a great idea, barring a compromised update source it should be an improvement.
