Malware Database Size

Many cloud av release their malware database size.
I attached samples as image.
How many files has WSE or prevx got?

I don't think either Prevx or Webroot publish such figures. In any case, the malware database total is counted differently from vendor to vendor; some count each object individually while others detect 10s or 100s of variants with one signature. Bearing that in mind, the figures are likely to be considerably higher than what is often shown so not a true reflection of what is actually in the database.

One interesting thing I did see in the PC Mag article I posted a while ago [about the Webroot 2012 product revamp] was this:

The Prevx technology relies entirely on an immense database of applications and behaviors in the cloud. This database collects and correlates an almost-unimaginable amount of information about every process ever run on any system with SecureAnywhere (or Prevx) installed. According to Morris, this database, code named ENZO, can include as many as two million database rows for a single process.

I think that is for offline and behaviors mode. I know 1 malware signature can catch more 1 or 1000.
But is it right for white listing? Or cloud checking?

I believe it is well into the billions, but individual counts aren't really relevant - we don't only look at data on bad programs, we look at data on unknown, good, and bad programs. A single Virut variant could produce 10,000,000 new programs itself in the space of a couple hours.

Amazing that we catalog billions of applications and it's still not enough.
