"Tech-savvy burglars are using social networks to check when people are away from their homes, and even scope out properties before robbing them. Credit Sesame interviewed 50 ex-burglars in the UK and found that 80 percent used Facebook, Twitter, Google Street View, and Foursquare to determine when and where to strike. "Keep that in mind the next time you're about to Tweet your vacation plans or check into a location far away from your home," it advises. As always, watch what you say on these networks. Agreed. You can't just use these things as a toy to play with, not now, and really never could. Every time you post something on there, even innocent information can be used against you by someone. I don't like them, I think they are exceedingly dangerous, but they're staying for a while. At least people should learn to watch their mouths, think first about who is going to see what, and then post. |

A not only that, it is a fact that kids and teens tend to show off with social networks which resulted in 3 kidnaps where i live.
If anyone use a Social network they gotta use it properly. ![]()

Kids shouldn't even be allowed on Facebook. A kid can be smart and safe, kids overall are stupid, immature and think nothing can happen to them. The problem is, it's too easy to get around age restrictions on the net.

Well they were not really kids, they were teenagers actually 18-19 years old, tone of them used to show off their daddy's money and buy the latest gadgets and things.
What happens next is all history, they were first kidnapped a few days and the bad guys were requesting for a big reward, they did pay the reward but still got rid of the poor teens and i knew all of them sadly . . . ![]() I say they because there were 3 teens, 2 of them actually were not really in the plans but since they were all together, they took all of them.

I have no idea why anyone posts this stuff so publicly. It's one thing to be like "Going to ____ for vacation!" to your friends/family... if that's the only group that can see it.

Reminds of a message I heard years ago on a friends answering machine that read similar to this: "We are on vacation right now, please leave your message and we will get back to you when we get back on the 5th of May"
