Mint
Puppy
Knos

Found that Ubuntu the most suited For me

But i'm Looking for something very Light similer to Knos

i did Like Knos Demo Very much but didn't work on VMware
and it keep restarting heuristically

what do you promote
i need something that's similar to Knos Preconfigured security
some guys noted in a earlier topic i posted about Freebsd
i will use it to do dirty work
like visiting Malware sites etc..
but i don't have experience in it and i found too much complicated

If you like FreeBSD you could try PCBSD.

For security, how about Qubes OS. It is a pretty cool idea and is fairly secure, everything is isolated from each other. It is Fedora combined with Xen putting individual programs in their own VM instance (up to 10 or 11). For instance, Firefox in one VM can not communicate with Pidgin in another VM, while both can access the internet without compromising each other.

BSD's are cool but require more knowledge to use. They're not as easy as say, Mint, Fedora or Ubuntu.

You might check and see if there are any VM appliances available for the distro's you want to try. Would save the time on installing if you just want to test drive.

But Qubes OS isn't "small distro".

Quote:
Hardware Requirements Minimum:
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 64-bit Intel or AMD processor (x86_64 aka x64 aka AMD64)
  • Intel GPU strongly preferred (if you have Nvidia GPU, prepare for some troubleshooting; we haven't tested ATI hardware)
  • 10GB of disk (Note that it is possible to install Qubes on an external USB disk, so that you can try it without sacrificing your current system. Mind, however, that USB disks are usually SLOW!)
  • Fat SSD disk strongly recommended

hi,

For my concern i would guive a chance to Fortress Linux that i've already mentioned in a recent post:

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=308227

The first editions are available since yesterday:
http://www.fortresslinux.org/download.php

The main problem for security distro (security focused, privacy, pentesting, forensic) is to stay always updated (patches and support), and not to be another one in the cimetiary of abandoned projects.

You can try use a RedHat derivate ( like Scientific Linux or Centos ) or Fedora and use Selinux Sandbox from there.
Some information here:
http://scientificlinuxforum.org/inde...topic=537&st=0

Basically is :

in terminal:

yum install policycoreutils-sandbox

sandbox -X -t sandbox_web_t firefox

This will start firefox sandboxed from the system.

-X = A isolated X session
-t = define the type of the sandbox
sandbox_web_t = Give internet access

Pidgin works too. My tests so far is limited... Mrkvonic can give much more information.
