Maybe its something with WSA in the mix, dunno. Im on Chrome 14 here so that could be it too.

I've already uninstalled EAM (for now) but will test again taking WSA out of the mix.

Thanks guys.

/me started with iron 11 portable - up on Iron 13 portable, parallel had gc12 to
gc15. i tried to "copy" firefox features but those are limited extensions in chrome
so i use firefox again up the latest v10 which are all very stable and my 40
extensions are running fine (up from v4 now). me was impressed about speed
but depressed when using extensions. <shrug> sorry of OT

Seems a bit better without WSA in the mix. Not sure how to setup exclusions just yet. But this is on XP in a vm so its not apples to apples.

Its still not as light "feeling" as my normal av though. Detection has been superb so far. Tested a handful of malware samples and its been quite good!

To apply an exclusion go to GUARD>Application Rules>Add New Rules. Now configure accordingly.

Cheers!

Upgraded the free version from 5.1: after the reboot and the full scan my pc freezes. I don't know if the cause is EA, but I restored a disk image with the previous version and now my system works.

I had EAM 6 and WSA together and experienced some problem with firefox.

Firefox was crashing during launch. By disabling WSA, firefox was running OK.

The problem is that i don't remember which one i installed first. Maybe it matters...

By the way, i'm running Win7 x64.

So far, perfect. Noticable lag in v.5x is gone, i installed it with Online Armor and they both work in harmony. Startup of programs is fast enough and no major slowdowns. I always wanted to use the solid protection of Emsisoft but v.5x was too heavy, i am enjoying it now.

Although, for some reason Windows doesn't recognise it and keeps advicing me about finding a antivirus program. Strange..

Hi, I am test driving ver. 6.0.0.40 on a win 7 x64 desktop. I am confused on one aspect: the windows firewall is still enabled.

I was under the impression that EAM has its own firewall (it certainly seems that way, since it seems to be blocking connections left and right)?

Can anyone clarify?

thanks,
Luca

No EAM does not have its own firewall. Surf protection is probably blocking websites that are on host list it has.

The Emsisoft Anti-Malware surf protection allows you to import a custom hosts file too.

Might you be able to give at least a rough estimation? e.g. a few days, weeks or months.
